The upcoming 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD will make its debut next year. It will be based on the company’s very successful Silverado half-ton pickup. The Silverado HD is a bigger model than the Silverado 1500, which comes in two configurations: 2500 and 3500. Additionally, it is more powerful and capable of towing and hauling a greater load.
Chevrolet says the maximum towing capacity of this truck is 35,500 pounds, which is nearly the highest in the class. The Ford Super Duty tows 37,000 pounds, whereas the Ram HD tows 35,000 pounds. Apart from its outstanding towing capacity, the Silverado HD is aesthetically pleasing and features a high-tech cabin. Sales will commence later this year, in the third quarter.
2023 Silverado HD Exterior Design
The next 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD is widely known as one of the strongest trucks on the market, and it will be far stronger than prior generations. When you first glance at this heavy-duty truck, you’ll see a huge grille emblazoned with Chevrolet branding. Surprisingly, the grille heights on many models may reach the necks of taller individuals. Furthermore, we appreciate the larger corner stairs, which make it simpler to reach this massive truck.
The heavy-duty versions now have a new DuraBed feature in the rear, which is available solely on heavy-duty models. According to the manufacturer, the long-bed form of this model offers a class-leading volume of 83.3 cubic feet. Towing mirrors and a power-operated tailgate are now available as standard. Still, redesign of the Silverado HD won’t happen just yet.
Interior Refreshments
The cabin of the new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD will be just as modern as the half-ton variant. This truck’s interior is rather big, with seating for up to six passengers depending on the cab configuration. Generally, if you want more space, a crew cab is preferable over a double cab.
On the other hand, the Silverado’s cabin is not quite as technologically advanced as the Ram Heavy Duty models. It includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, rather than the 12-inch screen seen in Ram trucks. The High Country trim level, on the other hand, adds luxury amenities like leather seats and larger displays.
Engine Lineup Remains
As is the case with the current model, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD models will be available with a choice of two large engines. The base model is using a standard 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine, which replaces the previous generation’s 6.0-liter engine. The engine generates 400 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque and it comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, Chevy also provides an optional 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine producing 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of twisting power.
As a result, when towing a big weight, we opt for the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel. Towing capacity is raised to a class-leading 35,500 pounds with this engine. Unlike the gasoline engine, the diesel engine features a new Allison ten-speed automatic gearbox.
