2025 Ford F-150 Early Preview: What’s New?

Ford always keeps the changes on the flagship truck for the premiere. The F-150 won’t be redesigned, but there is always room for big surprises. This year, it was the Raptor R edition. A year before, the company discontinued a diesel engine. The next model brings an updated SYNC infotainment system with upgraded graphics and intuitive controls. After that, the 2025 Ford F-150 will continue to upgrade trim levels, colors, interior accessories, towing capacity, etc.

The truck is still the #1 in sales and no other pickup can dethrone it so easily. Also, we keep an eye on the competition – there are no big changes announced for either Ram 1500 or Chevy Silverado 1500. Electric pickups are trending now, so all three US truckmakers are focused on this realm. The F-150 Lightning is in production. Ram Revolution and Silverado EV are also close to the appearance in salons. From what we know, Ford is also working on a new project called T3. It is another electric pickup with a release date set for 2025. So, the F-150 won’t be a priority for a big redesign.

The Next-Gen F-150

It is early to talk about the new generation of the legendary truck. Changes are happening more frequently nowadays, but the 13th generation debuted in 2021. With the pace of last few series that lasted for 5 or 6 years, it is still too optimistic to expect the new one. Plus, the current F-150 came out during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we can’t count it as a full 5-year run. From 2026, we can talk about the 14th generation.

Raptor R, Electric Truck – What’s Next?

Currently, the company is expanding lineup to new realms. Well, this is not new. A few years ago, we saw the debut of a diesel engine. It didn’t last for too long and the truckmaker is now using cleaner sources of power. The ultimate goal is the F-150 Lightning, the all-electric truck with zero-emission power production.

All three US truckmakers are following each other’s steps. Ford had to do it when the Ram TRX debuted and develop the new Raptor R with 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. Those are high-end and expensive models that don’t have too much with towing. However, the Blue Oval is not letting the competition show they are weak.

What Kind Of Engines the 2025 Ford F-150 Will Use?

There can only be upgrades for the 2025 Ford F-150. A 3.3-liter V6 is a perfect starter with 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. A 2.7-l turbo-four is more efficient when it comes to fuel economy. Towing capacity is very similar between these two. A more significant push is when you use a V8. This engine is under the question mark since the trend is to use a smaller turbocharged displacement. A couple of those is already in F-150’s lineup. A 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 can do 400 hp, while the hybrid system with the same unit adds 30 ponies. It also creates 570 lb-ft of twist and returns 25 mpg combined. Depending on a trim level, you will have an option to select 2WD or 4WD.

Why is F-150 the Best Truck?

Ford’s fans will say that the F-150 is easily the best truck in the world. Well, sales confirm that. Owners of other pickups have their reasons why they love their rides, or hate the Blue Oval. A few things are certain – big sales are not coming by chance, especially not in such a long run.

If we start from the latest version – engineers did a great job with a hybrid unit. It saves fuel and delivers a lot of power and torque at the same time. Going back a little more – the Raptor version was the unique model in the market for some while. Now, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is coming equipped with a mighty hybrid configuration called the I Force Max.

A variety of engines, cab/bed configurations, trim levels, and other options, definitely make the F-150 the best truck in the market. But, the 2025 Ford F-150 will have tougher rivals. Tundra hybrid is already mentioned, Ram TRX questioned Raptor’s supremacy off the road, and Chevrolet works hard on launching the Silverado EV with improved specs compared to the Lightning truck.

Verdict

In the past few years, Ram 1500 overtook the #2 sales spot from Silverado. It makes it the biggest rival to the 2025 Ford F-150, but the Blue Oval is still far ahead. Versatility is key. Plus, Ford’s trucks are reliable and durable. If you get bored, then the resale value makes a strong argument. Only Toyota can be compared to this pickup.

Ford is the biggest innovator in the truck market. The debut of the small Maverick confirms that. While everyone was criticizing in the early months, now more companies want to build a compact pickup. The Blue Oval will set some trends with the 2025 Ford F-150, mark our words.
