2025 Toyota Tundra Introduces HD Truck and DRW Configuration

The all-new Tundra is achieving better sales compared to the last season. But, leading US truckmakers also sell more units. Anyway, the Japanese truck is at the same level with performance and especially reliability. Tundra remains the model with the best resale value, alongside Ford F-150. There won’t be big changes in the upcoming editions. Styling is fresh and a hybrid drivetrain is a chip for the future. More such pickups will be available soon, but the 2025 Toyota Tundra will have a kick-start.

Under the hood of the truck is now a turbo-six engine with electric support. The I Force system is available in standard configuration and also the Max setup with extra power and torque. The 2025 Toyota Tundra will be competitive in towing capacity with US trucks, although buyers like domestic companies more. We expect from the Japanese pickup to catch up a bit, but it is hard to expect Toyota to sell more than 500k Tundras per annum.

2025 Toyota Tundra I Force Engine

Under the bonnet of the new truck is a hybrid system called I Force. The company didn’t wait for too long since the info about the new powertrain leaked. The 2025 Toyota Tundra will keep both configurations, the I Force and the I Force Max.

The petrol engine used for the truck is a 3,445 cc unit. You will find specs sheets where they say it is a 3.4-l, and some advertise it as a 3.5-l engine. But, it is the same powertrain. The I Force setup comes with turbochargers and creates 389 hp. That is a similar result to the previous drivetrain, the legendary 5.7-l V8. But, a turbo V6 is more efficient and returns 20 mpg combined.  Plus, the towing capacity is now 12,000 pounds mostly thanks to a higher torque output – 479 lb-ft. A 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear or both axles.

The same petrol plant is upgraded with a hybrid system to provide more power and torque. The I Force Max configuration is good for 437 hp and 583 lb-ft. However, higher outputs don’t increase the maximum towing capacity. For the hybrid, it is 11,450 pounds. But, the truck is fuel-friendlier and you can achieve 22 mpg combined. The same 10-pace gearbox is a power router for the 2025 Toyota Tundra I Force Max.

2025 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, Trailhunter and Other Grades

The Trailhunter is the new trim level for the Tundra. The company plans to build all the future overlanding vehicles on this platform. But, the best off-road configuration is still the TRD Pro. It looks like that switch from a V8 to a smaller block and hybrid system didn’t affect its performance. The 2025 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is still ready to compete, even with the Ford F-150 Raptor.

Unique upgrades include a suspension lift and Fox dampers. Of course, all-terrain tires and 4WD are standard. The rear locking differential is there to enhance the traction. The TRD Pro is also getting a Crawl Control function and a few skid plates to protect the body.

Capstone is a luxury package with high-end options. Premium leather, large wheels, noise-cancellation windows, and HUD are just some of the upgrades for this one. Most buyers skip the base SR and pick the SR5. This is a $6,000 upgrade, but you are getting a lot of options that can cost you much more if you take them separately.

2025 Toyota Tundra HD Rumors

In the past few months, there are speculations about Toyota’s debut in the heavy-duty segment. Stout is the new project, but it seems this is the compact pickup. A heavy-duty version of the Tundra is already rendered and it could debut pretty soon. Fans also think that dually truck is another cool idea that will make the 2025 Toyota Tundra HD more competitive with domestic models.

Anyway, it is hard to imagine this vehicle, especially without any detail from the company. The heavy-duty segment brings the most profit to Ford, GM and Ram trucks, and the Japanese truckmarket wants to test its capabilities in this class. It is not an easy job. Development is one of the problems, plus Toyota will have to expand factories and hire new people. Or, they can just drop some of the cars they build. Ford and General Motors already cut down many sedans and hatchbacks. Meanwhile, Toyota is covering all the segments, even in the luxury world with Lexus products.

Prices

The pickup offers so many options already, and the 2025 Toyota Tundra with the HD and dually configurations will expand the lineup even wider. The base truck is using Double Cab and the MSRP starts at $40,000. However, you will need the CrewMax cabin to unlock the best grades and features. Currently, the most expensive version is Capstone and the TRD Pro costs $70k. Toyota is going to increase the price tags on the 2025 YM.
