The petrol engine used for the truck is a 3,445 cc unit. You will find specs sheets where they say it is a 3.4-l, and some advertise it as a 3.5-l engine. But, it is the same powertrain. The I Force setup comes with turbochargers and creates 389 hp. That is a similar result to the previous drivetrain, the legendary 5.7-l V8. But, a turbo V6 is more efficient and returns 20 mpg combined. Plus, the towing capacity is now 12,000 pounds mostly thanks to a higher torque output – 479 lb-ft. A 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear or both axles.
The same petrol plant is upgraded with a hybrid system to provide more power and torque. The I Force Max configuration is good for 437 hp and 583 lb-ft. However, higher outputs don’t increase the maximum towing capacity. For the hybrid, it is 11,450 pounds. But, the truck is fuel-friendlier and you can achieve 22 mpg combined. The same 10-pace gearbox is a power router for the 2025 Toyota Tundra I Force Max.
2025 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, Trailhunter and Other Grades
The Trailhunter is the new trim level for the Tundra. The company plans to build all the future overlanding vehicles on this platform. But, the best off-road configuration is still the TRD Pro. It looks like that switch from a V8 to a smaller block and hybrid system didn’t affect its performance. The 2025 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is still ready to compete, even with the Ford F-150 Raptor.
Unique upgrades include a suspension lift and Fox dampers. Of course, all-terrain tires and 4WD are standard. The rear locking differential is there to enhance the traction. The TRD Pro is also getting a Crawl Control function and a few skid plates to protect the body.
Capstone is a luxury package with high-end options. Premium leather, large wheels, noise-cancellation windows, and HUD are just some of the upgrades for this one. Most buyers skip the base SR and pick the SR5. This is a $6,000 upgrade, but you are getting a lot of options that can cost you much more if you take them separately.
