It’s been years since we’ve seen the 2006 Super Chief Concept. Although it never entered serial production, it left a pretty big mark in the truck world, mostly because of its unique tri-fuel powertrain, which allowed this truck to run on gasoline, ethanol or hydrogen. These days, we are getting reports about another concept version, which could have a presentation already in the next year.
At this point, this is just a rumor. Still, it makes perfect sense, as today’s automotive industry brings loads of new technologies every year. Therefore, the new 2021 Ford Super Chief may be a perfect opportunity for the Blue Oval company to show some new tech achievements. Of course, we have no doubt that the new version would once again come with pretty unique styling, with loads of exclusive design solutions.

At this point, it’s still very early to talk about anything. Simply, the new concept is just a rumor at the moment and we can only speculate and make predictions based on the previous concept. That leads us to the base layout, which will probably be based on the F-250 once again. Still, we would see a lot of different styling elements and just like the original, the 2021 Ford Super Chief should also come with loads of upgrades that would make it look bolder and boxier.
In terms of mechanics, we have no doubt that some interesting powertrain will once again take the central spot but we may see some interesting solutions in other aspects as well. For example, we could see some interesting chassis and suspension setup, which would be used in some other trucks in the future.

Of course, this is the aspect that draws the most attention. The original model features a unique system, which combined three different fuel. That truck was able to run on gasoline, ethanol or hydrogen. Unfortunately, such a concept never became a common thing in the automotive industry. Therefore, we will probably see something different this time, but once again something new. It could be an all-electric setup, or hydrogen fuel cells, or a combination of these two, or something third. It’s hard to say something more at the moment.
Serial Production
The 2021 Ford Super Chief is just a rumor at this point but if we consider that it would probably arrive as a concept once again, the question that comes to our minds is are there any chances to see it in serial production. This is pure speculation but if we consider that the company already offers a plethora of amazing pickup trucks, it’s easy to conclude that the 2021 Ford Super Chief will probably serve to introduce some new technologies, once again. These new tech achievements will later be used on models like F-150, F-250, Expedition etc.
