The best-selling truck ever got a version for the future. Everything about the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is so special. First, we are talking about the F-Series pickup, the best-selling vehicle in the US for years. The Blue Oval is not a leader in the electrification. That’s Tesla. But Elon Musk and its company have to be worried when Ford is after you.
Electric vehicles are not yet too popular. They are still pretty expensive, but prices are dropping. Soon, EVs will overtake the market and push out internal combustion engines. Zero-emission powertrains are the future of this industry. But, changes are not being accepted so quickly in the trucking world. We can still find diesel powertrains there. Companies and environment-protection agencies can’t get rid of oil burners because of the high demand and superb working capacity.
Anyway, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is there to test the market and company’s capabilities. When the final stage of evolution starts, this is going to be a good base. Tesla is not the only rival in this realm. Electric trucks by FCA and GM are also coming. Chevy Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500 REV are already presented. Well, their destiny is pretty much the same as for the Lightning – they will have to sit and wait until internal combustion engines are banned for good.
2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Specs
The main upgrade any EV brings is the zero-emission powertrain. Regulative is becoming stricter and such vehicles are the safe zone. Still, the technology is pretty expensive and drivers can’t get used to the new mechanisms. Electric vehicles work differently and truckers especially are denying any changes.
Anyway, the conversion to electric trucks is inevitable and the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is a truck of the future. The emission-free power supply is just the beginning. The specs of the pickup are pretty impressive. The F-150 Lightning packs a battery that supports a range of up to 240 miles. But, it drops quite a lot when the truck is loaded. The towing capacity is 10,000 pounds and it can harm the range. A larger battery is also available, but it costs extra, which is something we don’t like to hear. The truck needs 4 seconds for the 0-60 mph acceleration. The standard edition makes 450 hp. Top models can deliver 580 horsepower and 775 pound-feet. Ford might add some high-performance editions in the future. For now, the focus will be on the recharging speed and range improvements.
2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Prices
The truck is not out yet, although the concept vehicle is becoming old. The EV entered production and will be available as the 2024 YM. For the following edition not too many things will be new. The base price should stay under $60,000. Standard F-150 is already above $40k and for $20,000 more you can pack it with Tremor or King Ranch trims. The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning will also offer plenty of advanced technology, even on the entry model. The company is not rushing to the market with an EV pickup. Their time is not due yet. However, preparing the pitch is very important and Ford doesn’t want to give the competition the edge.
Other Lightning Trucks
The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is just starting a big evolution in the family. We can read rumors about other projects – Ranger and Maverick electric trucks. According to sources, all those pickups will be called Lightning. Still, different configurations are available depending on size and purpose. The F-150 needs to haul the most, while the towing capacity is not a priority for the compact Maverick. In the SUV segment, the evolution started with the Mustang Mach-E. Other models are yet to become available.
2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Trim Levels and Accessories
The company announced four packages, but those will be subject to changes, since some time has passed. Pro, XLT, Lariat and Platinum were the initial lineup. Now, the estimated price is significantly higher, which means Ford made some modifications. Some of the highlights for the base version are fast-charging capability, 18-inch wheels, 12-inch infotainment screen with navigation and leading smartphone services (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), power outlets (6x) and improved traction thanks to the electronically lockable rear axle.
The XLT offers underseat storage, a leather steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera. Maybe the best thing about this one is the unlocked optional package called 312A. Still, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat offers more in the base form, and especially with the 511A High Package. Leather seats with cooling, premium audio, wireless charger and panoramic sunroof are just some of the upgrades. The Platinum model adds a few high-end accessories, such as 22-inch wheels, massaging seats, premium interior materials and Max Towing Package(allows the truck to haul 10,000 pounds).
We’ll see how far Ford will go with autonomous drive system. Chevrolet set the bar pretty high with the Super Cruise system, and the new one, Ultra Cruise, is about to debut soon.
