The evolution of the automotive industry is leading us to the complete electrification of all types of vehicles. This process is not easy, especially when it comes to the truck class. New models must keep the towing capabilities, but a heavy load means higher energy consumption. Still, all the leading truckmakers race to be the first to drop an electric pickup. The 2025 RAM 1500 REV is still a concept, as well as the Chevy Silverado EV. Ford seems to be a step ahead with the F-150 Lightning since you can pre-order this model. Tesla Cybertruck is introduced, but the serial production is yet to start.
The new 2025 RAM 1500 REV will be similar to the standard, gas-powered truck. The EV is going to keep the styling, with some modifications that will make it futuristic. The electric truck is using body-on-frame architecture, which will make it more capable of towing. The company promised 14,000 pounds. Well, that is the option for a high-end dual-motor setup, which also can cover 500 miles. The standard range is going to be shorter.
Estimated Pricing
Experts are already making predictions of how much the 2025 RAM 1500 REV will cost. The first estimations are close to the Ford F-150 Lightning, so the Ram should slap a price tag under $60,000 for the base version. But all others will be over this mark. The entry-level version might be called Tradesman, like most other Ram trucks. Other trims will get unique names. The top of the lineup version is Tungsten. The company confirmed this model, but the price is not unveiled. Again, experts believe this is going to be a premium version priced around $90,000. This is a good deal for an electric truck that can tow 14k pounds and get you 500 miles.
2025 RAM 1500 REV Specs
Two configurations will be available for the 2025 RAM 1500 REV. There are differences that will make you choose one or another, but an AWD is standard for both setups. The entry-level model is packed with a 168-kWh battery. The company promises 654 hp and 620 lb-ft. Well, the torque is questionable, since it is measured differently than for internal combustion engines. The towing capacity of this setup is 14,000 pounds. EPA still needs to confirm a 350-mile range. Quick chargers will allow a 100-mile top-up in just 10 minutes.
An alternative is a 229-kWh battery. FCA is not unveiling details of this configuration. Experts believe the range will be 500 miles. However, the larger battery pack doesn’t mean a better towing capacity. We expect it lower than the base version because of the increase of curb weight. Still, the max speed will be higher and acceleration crispier. The base model can run 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Adjustable air suspension is available for off-road models, which will also get extra ground clearance. On highways, the suspension lowers to boost aerodynamic.
Technology and Features
Electric vehicles come with specific accessories and systems. Engineers and designers will have to work hard to make the 2025 RAM 1500 REV competitive. Most of the rivals are a step ahead with some concepts already under development. There are some details already announced, such as dual-screen dashboard with 14.5-inch displays. The truck is getting a surround-view camera with digital mirrors. The concept pickup shows HUD and the company is working on improvements of voice commands. Siri and Alexa will be standard services, alongside Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
We will see the best features of the petrol truck on the EV. That means most high-end options are there for the Ram 1500 Revolution, such as leather seats, adjustable buckets, heating, cooling… Since there is no engine under the hood, there is room for cargo. Popular name for this is “frunk” (front trunk). Also, the space is maximized without the transmission tunnel. Side steps are also expected to be standard. Different versions will be available. The EV truck is longer than the standard pickup, which means more space inside the cockpit. The Ram Box is a storage compartment in the bed with lighting, rails, and tie-downs.
2025 RAM 1500 REV Release Date and Competition
Pre-orders are open, but the company is not announcing the release date schedule. The first estimation is late in 2024 and that is why we are talking about the 2025 YM. Well, the 2025 RAM 1500 REV will follow the competition, the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV in the first place. Both main rivals are also concepts. It seems Ford is a step ahead and the Lightning might be the first EV truck in salons. Tesla Cybertruck is a smaller pickup. Toyota is also working on the midsize Tacoma EV, while the larger Tundra is about to get the HD version. Some of the notable startup projects are Rivian R1T, Lordstown Endurance, and Fisker Alaska. FCA will soon electrify the Gladiator as well. But first, we’ll see the Wrangler EV.
Ford is ahead….they just announced today they are halving their production. The answer is the Ram Charger.
