As we already reported, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will officially introduce a hybrid powertrain. Of course, this isn’t the only upgrade. However, it is the most significant one. This off-road truck will gain a new tailgate, as the first teaser image shows.
The next-gen model is on the way, so there will be many updates. That includes improved styling, a new interior, and much more. Even the things under the skin will change, which is great to hear. No doubt, Toyota has a bigger plan with the mid-size Tacoma and its famous TRD Pro trim level.
New Tailgate
The all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is on the way, and we expect to see some major updates. The mid-size pickup will gain a lot of styling updates, which is great to hear. So far, Toyota revealed only one teaser image. The photo is showing a new tailgate and new taillights. The rear bumper seems to be new as well. The manufacturer will focus on the rear end, more than ever before. Not surprisingly, the rear section mimics the rear end of the larger Toyota Tundra. This means the two trucks will continue to share a lot of things between them.
The tailgate is just a start, as we expect to see similar front fascia as well. Unlike the regular Tacoma, the TRD Pro version will offer more ground clearance, more off-road gear, unique exterior colors, and more. Under the skin, Toyota will employ new Fox shocks, new brakes, and improved suspension lifts. With more ground clearance, new underbody skid plates, and improved approach/departure angles, Toyota TRD Pro will be more capable than ever before.
Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Hybrid Specs
The biggest news is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro with a hybrid powertrain. It is a well-known iForce Max unit, which combines a gas engine with an electric motor. Furthermore, the teaser image shows the iForce Max badge on the back of the vehicle. Just to make it clear, Toyota’s iForce and iForce Max are not the same thing. The iForce Max variant is more potent, and it currently produces around 340 horsepower. The same powertrain can be found in the Toyota Crown sedan and Toyota Grand Highlander SUV.
Toyota will continue to offer regular engine options in the Tacoma truck. Most likely, the current engine lineup remains, but the addition of the hybrid model is huge. The Tundra TRD Pro with a hybrid powertrain will produce around 435 horsepower, and Tacoma will get slightly below that. Still, that’s a lot of power for a mid-size pickup truck. On the other hand, we don’t know the exact specs, including fuel economy ratings.
2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Price and Release Date
There are a lot more details to discuss, and the Japanese carmaker will deliver official info in the following months. The 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will arrive later in 2023, per reports. However, while we know the price will increase, we don’t know how much TRD Pro trim level with a hybrid powertrain will cost. Therefore, stay tuned, as we are going to deliver interior details and more.
