Once upon a time, there was a mid-size pickup truck called Mitsubishi Raider. It hasn’t been in production for too long, wasn’t particularly popular either. However, it has a really good name, which could be used once again. While the L200 is doing pretty well overseas, it seems a little bit too small for the North American markets. Still, the Japanese manufacturer doesn’t want to look a nice piece of cake called the mid-size truck segment, which is growing pretty rapidly these days. It looks like they are planning a new pickup for the U.S. market, which will be called the 2021 Mitsubishi Raider.
At this point, this is just a rumor. We are still waiting to hear something from the officials on this matter. However, various unofficial reports suggest we could see this truck on the market already in the next year.
2021 Mitsubishi Raider Design
The first thing that comes to mind about the 2021 Mitsubishi Raider is the platform. The company is aiming for something bigger than the L200 and as Mitsubishi is now a part of Renault Nissan Alliance, the answer is just around the cornet. Yes, you may presume that the 2021 Mitsubishi Raider would share a lot of things with the upcoming Nissan Frontier, which will be redesigned after full 15 years. The two models will share the platform and lots of parts. This particularly refers to mechanics, while each model should come with its own styling approach.
Speaking of the styling, we presume that the new Raider would take a lot of inspiration from models like L200 and Eclipse cross. This particularly refers to the front end, which should be largely the same, full of those attractive bold lines and lots of sharp angles.
Interior Design
When it comes to interior design, it’s still early to talk about details. Still, there is a big chance to see this model sharing styling solutions with the new Frontier. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which should feature same basic contours, but several exclusive details as well. In any case, we count on a modern dashboard, full of fine materials and attractive design solutions. Of course, the presence of the latest tech goodies should make everything look even more opulent.
When it comes to cab layouts and bed sizes, we count on a couple of different configurations. Both single and double cab designs are expected, the extended cab seems possible as well. The bed length will probably depend on the cab layout only.
2021 Mitsubishi Raider Engines
When ti comes to the powertrain, we presume that the base model will come with some four-cylinder engine, though the details are still unavailable. On the other side, higher trim levels will probably come with Nissan’s new 3.8-liter V6 engine, which puts out pretty respectable 310 horsepower. Still, the most interesting part of the 2021 Mitsubishi Raider will probably be a hybrid version. We presume that the Japanese manufacturer, which is famous for its hybrid technology, will probably offer a PHEV version of this pickup truck. It will probably be based on a four-cylinder engine. It probably won’t be particularly strong, but we have no doubt it will be very efficient and that it will feature impressive emissions ratings.
2021 Mitsubishi Raider Release Date and Price
The 2021 Mitsubishi Raider may arrive already in the next year. Still, we have to say that this truck is just a rumor at this point and that we are still waiting to hear something from the officials on this matter. If it arrives, we presume that base versions will go around 25.000 dollars.
