This is probably the truck with the most names. L200 is the model you see in most countries, but it also appears as the Strada, Mighty Max, Strakar, Magnum, Colt… However, where it is not the L200, the truck is usually called Triton. Changes on the 2025 YM won’t be huge, since the upcoming pickup is all-new. Japanese truckers probably heard the good news – the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton will be available again in their market.
The next-gen pickup has just been unveiled. The company didn’t share all the details. Also, models in different markets will offer unique packages and configurations. One thing is sure – the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton is still very competitive pickup, although there are a lot of rivals. The ultimate goal is to bring the truck to the US, but it won’t happen so soon. Many modifications are required. Also, at this moment, the Triton/L200 is available with diesel engines only.
2025 Mitsubishi Triton Specs
A 2.4-liter engine is under the hood of the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton. There are two versions of this powertrain. Entry-level models will use a turbocharged setup with 133 kW (178 hp) and 430 Nm (317 pound-feet) of torque. Transmissions options are between manual and automatic, and both are 6-gear systems. Then, the transfer case sends power to rear wheels. Optionally, you can select a 4WD. There are two versions available. The Super Select II is an ultimate full-time four-wheel drive upgrade needed for off-roading. The truck consumes around 8 liters of diesel per 100 km. Converted to US mileage, it is around 30 mpg. Towing capacity is now 3,500 kg (7,700 pounds).
The twin-turbo version is enhancing power output to 201 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque. In Australia, the base setup is downpowered to 150 hp. Those will be options for the first wave of the next-gen truck. By 2025, the company could add another option. For example, a hybrid unit is possible, although there are no confirmations yet. Diesel engines still survive, but certain markets are becoming stricter. Petrol mill is needed for some European countries.
Redesign Details
The third generation of the pickup truck, or ute as they call it in Australia, will ride on the new platform. The 2025 Mitsubishi Triton is larger than its predecessors. The redesign brings a fresh styling. Of course, it draws a lot of attention from previous buyers and potential ones. Three cabs will be available – single, double and extra. The truck is 130 mm longer than before, and it is used to increase the room inside the cabin. The Triton stays smaller than the Ford Ranger.
Some of the stuff the company improved are side steps, handles and lighting. Body-color grille with black details is reserved for top trims. Reinforced bumper serves as a step for an easier access to bed. More drive modes are there. Of course, the Super Select II full-time 4WD is available only for the top of the line models (GSR in Australia). Still, you can also find Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock, depending on the truck and drive configurations.
The 2025 Mitsubishi Triton also offers updated infotainment system. The center of the multimedia is a 9-inch screen. Drivers can read important info on a 7-inch gauge cluster. Wireless charging pad, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, rear USB ports, and power outlets are just some of the features awaiting for the new Triton.
