It is very interesting to look at 2020 GMC Sierra specs, as there is a long list of novelties to come. The popular full-size truck has been redesigned recently and the second production year is bringing novelties as well. At this point, we know a lot of details about it.
First of all, new HD models are coming and promise a lot of improvement compared to the outgoing model. The new 1500 series have been around for some time, but novelties are coming for the next year as well, particularly in terms of a new, diesel powertrain. The rest of the truck is about to remain the same, which seems logical for a such very fresh model.
2020 GMC Sierra HD
The biggest novelty for the next year will be the arrival of new heavy-duty models. The new 2020 GMC Sierra HD will come with plenty of novelties, starting from a new, even bolder and more attractive design. New aesthetics, new platform and other novelties promise improvements in all aspects. Just like the base 1500, new 2500 and 3500 should also feature smoother ride, while the interior quality won’t be much higher.
Still, the more interesting novelty about this model is a new gasoline engine. Just like the Silverado HD, the 2020 GMC Sierra HD will also come with a new 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine, which delivers around 400 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, the diesel model continues with a well-known 6.6-liter Duramax, which features a max output of around 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. The engine may feature the same power, but it comes with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which will definitely have a huge impact on performances and overall ride quality.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel
Another big novelty for the next year will be the 2020 GMC Sierra Diesel. Light Duty models will come with one engine in the offer. It is a familiar 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel, which delivers 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. These are pretty respectable numbers but the new model won’t be as capable as some rivals. According to the latest reports, the new version will feature a max towing capacity of around 9.100 pounds. For comparison, Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 diesel models are good for 11,400 and 12,560 pounds, respectively.
The rest of the lineup is about to remain the same. Base models will come with a 285-hp V6, while a new 2.7-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque, is also available. On the other side, higher trims will carry on with two well-known V8 units. Those are 5.3- and 6.2-liter engines, good for 355 and 420 horsepower, respectively.
Trim Levels
The trim level organization will remain the same. Therefore, you may count on familiar trim names, as well as on a recently introduced off-road version, which will, in this case, come as 2020 GMC Sierra AT4. Compared to standard models, it comes with various upgrades, including hill descent control, skid plates, an off-road suspension, a two-speed transfer case etc. Also, it comes with a couple of interior exclusivities, such as bucket front seats, heated and ventilated front seats etc.
The 2020 GMC Sierra Denali will continue as the range-topping models. Besides a very long list of standard equipment, this model is also famous for its distinctive visual details. It features a unique grille design, wheels, lots of chrome details etc. Also, it comes with a long list of safety features, which includes safety alert seat, front and rear parking sensors, lane change alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, as well as an upgraded infotainment system and several more exclusive features.
Release Date and Price
The 2020 GMC Sierra will go on sale in the next few months. We don’t expect bigger changes in terms of the 2020 GMC Sierra price. Base 1500 models will go around 29.600 dollars.
