The segment of mid-size trucks is getting pretty popular these days and the recently introduced Gladiator is doing pretty well on the market. However, most of the potential buyers are still waiting for more engine options, considering that the current model comes only with a little bit sluggish V6 unit. Some of them wait for a turbo-four version. Still, most of them are interested in a new 2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel. Oil-burners are pretty popular these days and most truck makers will have such version in the offer pretty soon. Of course, FCA won’t be an exception, especially if we consider that the company is planning to sell this model in Europe as well.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel Specs
Of course, the most interesting thing about this truck will be under the hood. We already have exact numbers for the European version. It will feature a familiar 3.0-liter turbo-six engine, which is good for about 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, which means full 600 Newton-meters. Also, a familiar 8-speed automatic transmission has been revised for this occasion, in order to handle such a huge amount of torque. The exact numbers for the North American version are still to be announced. We presume they will be slightly lower, due to emission standards.
With such numbers, we do not doubt that the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel towing capacity will be impressive. The current gasoline version can tow way over 7.000 pounds. So, we may presume that this model will be even better, much better, due to significantly more torque. It will definitely go over 8.000 pounds, which is comparative even with some full-size trucks.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel Design
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel won’t feature any particular difference compared to the gasoline version. Therefore, count on a rigid, Wrangler-based platform, which ensures excellent off-road performances. Utility and off-roading will definitely be the strongest points of this truck, along with its lifestyle appearance. Also, keep in mind a well-equipped interior.
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel will come with a large and spacious cabin, with two comfortable rows and decent cargo bed size. Also, the thing we like about this truck is a stylish and well-built cabin, something that you won’t find in too many mid-size pickup trucks. Finally, there is an impressive list of tech features.
The thing we like very much about the new Gladiator is a long list of modern tech features. The truck comes standard with a 5-inch touchscreen, but larger 7- and 8.4-inch screens are in the offer as well. All models come standard with Bluetooth, an eight-speaker audio system, two USB ports etc. In higher trims, you can also get Alpine audio system, satellite radio, navigation, a removable Bluetooth wireless speaker, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and many more.
On the other side, the thing we don’t like about this truck is the lack of advanced safety features. A rearview camera is the only standard feature. Fortunately, the list of available features includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and similar things. Still, even this list doesn’t come even close to rivals like Toyota Tacoma.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel Release Date and Price
We expect to see the new diesel model in Europe sometime in the second half of the next year. The North American version should come a little bit earlier. When it comes to the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Diesel price, we presume that base models will go around 35.000 dollars.
