2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper Is Raptor’s Challenger

Although one of three major truck makers in North America, Chevy has never had an off-road version that is at the same level as Ford Raptor, for example. However, that could change soon. You probably remember the 2014 Chevy Reaper, which comes with significant upgrades over the stock version. It looks like we are about to see this version once again. Of course, this time it will be based on the recently redesigned model, with significant upgrades in all aspects. At this point, these are just rumors, but we are getting reports from pretty reliable sources, which indicates this will likely happen in the near future, maybe already as the 2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper.

2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper Specs

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind are upgrades. There is no doubt that the 2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper will come as a special version of the recently-redesigned model, with latest design solutions and technologies. Still, the exact amount of upgrades is still under speculation. At this point, we may presume that the focus will be on mechanical modifications. This primarily refers to suspension setup and similar parts. Count on completely new components. They will provide higher ground clearance, longer travel and many other things that are highly beneficial for off-road performances. Of course, there is a big chance to see various visual upgrades as well.

Styling

If you remember the previous version under this name, you know that there were numerous upgrades. Not only that we saw new details and body kit, but also significant modifications on the sheet metal. Latest reports suggest we could see something similar on the 2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper as well. Still, we don’t expect such massive changes on the sheet metal. This time, the focus should be on the body kit and other parts that are commonly modified, such as new wheels, graphics etc. Of course, a couple of upgrades is expected on the inside as well. At this point, we can’t say the exact details, but some tweaks will come for sure.

2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper Engine

The powertrain is another important aspect of this upgrade. The previous version was available with both V8 engines, and each one came with significant power boost, thanks to Magnuson Supercharger package. A smaller 5.3-liter unit was tuned to about 475 horsepower, while a bigger 6.2-liter unit featured a max output of full 550 horsepower. Therefore, we have no doubt that the new 2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper will also have significantly more power than Raptor, which currently delivers around 450 horsepower. Another potential rival, Ram Power Wagon is rated at around 410 horsepower.

Release Date and Price

The 2020 Chevy Silverado Reaper could arrive already in the next year. As you can see, it promises pretty amazing performance and should be able to outpace the Raptor. Still, count on a little bit higher price as well. Base models will probably go somewhere between 55.000 and 60.000 dollars but count on much more if you opt for upgrades.
