The medium-sized pickups are still coming, too. Enter the 2024 Dodge Ram Dakota. This truck has been ready for an update for quite a while. This news comes as a nice surprise for Dakota fans. Especially because there were rumors circulating that RAM wanted to scrap the project. This would probably mean introducing a new mid-size pickup into the fleet.

It looks like they went the easy way and are simply going to redesign the Dakota further. This bodes well for interior and exteriors that are ready for a refresh. Some styles are outdated, as is technology. Making it aggressive is priority number one in this market. Let’s take a look at what we can expect with the new Dakota.

Interior Based on the Ram 1500 Truck

We will get a refreshed interior with the 2024 Dodge Ram Dakota. This means better upholstery and improved seating with several fun features. such as heating, ventilation, perhaps even massaging on higher trims. Infotainment is a touchscreen of 13 inches in size. It has all the standard connectivity.

The Dashboard will be digital as well. We are glad RAM is looking towards the future. There will be plenty of safety features on the new Dakota. It will be interesting to see if those include hands-free driving. Both Ford and GM have their own software. RAM may invest in its own and provide more pre-mapped roads than competitors.

Dodge Ram Dakota Looks Quite Modern

The outside is poised to remain the same. We still get a sturdy-looking 2024 Dodge Ram Dakota. The truck is aggressive and mean. It is ready for off-road as is. It has adaptable air suspension and under armor skids to protect the body.

Bumpers are prominent but with a good approach angle. Nothing will get stuck under the pickup. The cargo bed is a standard 5.5 feet long and it has a multifunctional tailgate. Some trims even have camo paint.

Engine Rumors and Specs

This does come as a bit of a shock, but there won’t be too many changes under the hood. After all, the 2024 Dodge Ram Dakota will continue to be sold with the same powertrain. This means the fans will have to settle for a choice of several engines. We get a 3.6-liter V6 that gives around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Not too bad for a mid-size pickup. Then we have the most expensive version of the Dakota. It is a diesel 3.0-liter V6 with an automatic transmission.

Some fans argued that they would love a manual transmission, but we will have to wait and see if RAM listens to their prayers. This engine can produce 260 horsepower with 440 pound-feet of torque. Some people might recognize the engine from the Jeep Gladiator pickup. If it is good enough for a mountain climbing Gladiator, it will be good enough for Dakota as well. The extra torque will surely come in handy off the road. There has been no official confirmation of a hybrid or fully electric powertrain. This does come as a bit of a surprise. Most manufacturers are racing to put a battery pack in their trucks. But RAM seems unaffected by this.

Perhaps they are not worried about 2030 emission regulations for a reason. But a dual electric motor setup would do wonders for the Dakota. They could also borrow an engine from the Wrangler. That hybrid can produce 375 horses. Fully electric trucks aren’t so far away as some believe. They just need to change the platform. There are plenty of good ones out there. The platform must accommodate all the electric components for the powertrain. The battery shouldn’t be smaller than 150 kWh if they want to compete with Ford’s and GM’s creations.

2024 Dodge Ram Dakota price

Fuel Economy

The new 2024 Dodge Ram Dakota isn’t the cheapest to run, but it does offer some value when it comes to mileage. You can count on getting 14.6 mpg for combined driving. This number would be much better if there was a hybrid powertrain under the hood.

2024 Dodge Ram Dakota Launch Date and Price

Expect to see the famous mid-size pickup on the road later in 2023. summer or perhaps even autumn if supply chain issues continue due to the pandemic. The 2024 Dodge Ram Dakota will cost around $25000, which is good value for a starting trim.

The current generation of the capable pickup truck has been around for a while and we are pretty sure that the next-year model won’t bring any particular change. Most likely, we are about to see the same layout, which stands out in several ways, starting from excellent performances, upscale interior and many other things. On the other side, some reports suggest the new model might hit the Australian market. That wouldn’t be a surprise, considering that some of the Ram’s models are already available in this part of the world. In any case, the 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 shouldn’t receive any particular change, even if it comes to this part of the world.

On the other side, the North American model will certainly carry on in the same way. This means you may count on a design that ensures excellent overall capabilities, especially in terms of towing capacities, where this truck is definitely among class leaders. We expect to see the new year model sometime in the last quarter of 2020.

2021 Dodge Ram 2500

2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the current model has been around for less than a few years and it seems very fresh in every aspect. That’s why we don’t expect to see any particular change in the next year. The current generation heavily relies on the standard light-duty model and features pretty much the same design language. Therefore, you may count on the styling that includes a new grille design, among other novelties. Of course, this model comes in a variety of configurations, with different cab layouts and bed sizes. When it comes to the possible 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Australia model, we don’t expect any particular difference in terms of the base design, though there is always enough room for a couple of distinctive details.

Interior and Trim Levels

The 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 interior definitely won’t change and the reason is quite simple. The current generation features largely the same interior as the standard 1500 model, which stands out for exceptional quality. First-grade materials and loads of tech features is what you can expect from this truck, while higher trim levels look very luxurious.

2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Interior

The basic trim level organization is typical for Ram models. It includes the following trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Longhorn, Limited and Power Wagon. This organization won’t change for the next year, though each version should come with a couple of additions to the list of standard equipment. Still, don’t expect too much, as most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, models like Tradesman will be pretty much barebones, while mid-range trim levels like Limited will come with a pretty long list of standard equipment, which includes things like LED lighting, a 115-volt power outlet, power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, parking sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery. Higher trim levels will gradually add more and more standard features.

When it comes to the Power Wagon, it will continue as an off-road version of the truck, which comes with a variety of exclusive upgrades. Some of the highlights are things like all-terrain tires, off-road shock absorbers, tow hooks, skid plates, a manual transfer case, electronically locking differentials with a 4.10 axle ratio, hill descent control, an integrated front winch. Of course, it also comes with several exclusive styling details, which accentuate the model’s off-road character.

2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Power Wagon

2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Engines

Under the hood, things definitely won’t change and that means you may count on two familiar engine options. Of course, base models will feature a well-known 6.4-liter V8 gasoline engine, which for this occasion delivers around 410 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also, there is a well-known 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel, which puts out around 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to max towing capacity, the base model with a gasoline engine can tow up to around 17.500 pounds, while max payload capacity goes over 4.000 pounds. Of course, the 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel will be a better choice if towing is your priority, as such models can tow up to 19.680 pounds. However, these models feature significantly lower payload capacity. Also, keep in mind that exact ratings depend on several more things, starting from the drivetrain, cab style, level of equipment and more.

2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Release Date and Price

This aspect shouldn’t bring surprises either. So, expect to see the next-year model sometime in the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go 34.000 dollars. Of course, key competitors are Ford F-250 and Chevy Silverado 2500HD.

Today’s market is getting quite crazy and there are more and more new models in the offer. Among them, there is a big number of familiar nameplates, which have been active decades ago. That seems like a great way to boost sales of new models, as good old names always wake up nostalgia, especially among older generations of drivers. Therefore, the 2021 Dodge Rampage doesn’t seem unlikely at all, despite we are talking just about a rumor, which has been circulating around for years, but with no feedback from the company’s management.

Those who remember this model know that it was in production for a very short period, for just a couple of years during the early 80s. However, it left a pretty big mark among pickup enthusiasts, so they are eagerly waiting to see it again. According to rumors, Dodge prepares a pretty interesting design approach, which will bring not just attractive in terms of styling, but also promises exceptional performances.

2021 Dodge Rampage Design

So far, we have seen two versions of Rampage. The original model was a typical coupe utility model, which focus on ride quality and performance. On the other side, we saw that the 2006 concept, which came with an extremely bold and truckish layout, despite it was also based on a unibody platform. Most rumors suggest that the new 2021 Dodge Rampage will be much closer to the original version.

2006 Rampage Concept

In practice, this means a typical coupe ute layout. Rival companies, Chevy and Ford, are also expected to launch similar models, in forms of El Camino and Ranchero, so we may actually witnessing a kind of resurrection of the classic segment, which was popular decades ago. Therefore, the new Dodge Rampage truck would have to find the way to stand out and the first things that come to mind are styling and performances.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Of course, we are talking about a unibody layout and it seems natural to see this model based on the famous Challenger. Moreover, the two models are about to share the styling as well. Most sources suggest the new Rampage would probably feature the same overall layout as the famous pony car. This would include pretty much the same length and mechanics.

2021 Dodge Rampage Render

In terms of the styling, the front end should be the same or very similar. We expect to see a quite similar face, though the Challenger may keep a little bit of its exclusivity. Other rumors suggest we might see a grille layout and headlights heavily inspired by the new Ram 1500 as well. That would also look very interesting, something that would add some muscles to a petty sleek profile.

Interior

When it comes to the 2021 Dodge Rampage interior, some things are pretty easy to predict. Of course, we are talking about the cabin style, as single cabs are typical for this type of vehicle. Therefore, you may count on seating capacity for two, though it wouldn’t be a surprise if we see an old-school bench layout in the offer as well.

On the other side, the dashboard would probably look the same as in the Challenger. This means a pretty conventional layout, which hasn’t changed over this decade. The overall quality isn’t spectacular, but a good thing is that the list of standard features is long. This includes loads of tech goodies as well, including FCA’s excellent Uconnect infotainment system. Behind the seats, you may count on a typical truck bed, which will actually feature a pretty decent size.

2021 Dodge Rampage Engine

This is where we expect a lot from the new model. Simply, the 2021 Dodge Rampage specs should be impressive, as we are talking about the model that will be based on the legendary pony car. Of course, base models would come with a 3.6-liter V6, which is good for about 303 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque.

2021 Dodge Rampage Rendering Photo

The 2021 Dodge Rampage engine lineup should include a couple of V8 engines as well. The first one that comes to mind is a 5.7-liter HEMI unit, which delivers around 372 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. We count on a bigger 6.4-liter engine as well. This unit delivers 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, the Hellcat engine doesn’t seem very likely for this coupe ute.

2021 Dodge Rampage Release Date and Price

The 2021 Dodge Rampage is currently just a rumor, so you should take this article, as well as its arrival with a big reserve. Still, we can’t ignore rumors that suggest this model might arrive pretty soon, maybe already in the next year. If it ever arrives, we presume that base models will go around 30.000 dollars, roughly.

Let’s be honest, this is something most truck enthusiasts have been waiting since the first launch of this amazing engine. It all started with the iconic Challenger, but this engine later found the place in the Charger and Jeep Grand Cherokee as well. It looks like it’s finally Ram’s turn, as the 2021 Dodge Ram Hellcat is about to hit the market soon.

The testing model has been already spotted on the road and it looks like the powerful engine will be used for an off-road version, which would come as the Rebel TRX. It’s not hard to guess that FCA is aiming at F-150 Raptor with this model and there is no doubt that this engine will play a critical role in taking the Raptor off the throne. Still, that engine won’ t be the only quality of this engine. We count on all other kinds of upgrades.

2020 Ram Rebel TRX Spy Shot

2021 Dodge Ram Hellcat Engine

Things are pretty clear here. We are talking about a well-known unit that already powers several hi-performance models from FCA, including Challenger and Grand Cherokee. This engine measure 6.2 liters in displacement and features a pretty impressive max output that goes up to 707 or 717 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, depending on the version.

In any case, this engine would be a huge step up compared to the 3.5-liter twin-turbo from Raptor, which is good for “only” 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. Of course, the Raptor is notably lighter. Still, that won’t be enough to cover a huge margin that will go over 250 horsepower.  So, if we consider that the blue dinosaur needs around 5.8 seconds to hit 60 mpg, it’s quite obvious that the 2021 Dodge Ram Hellcat will be able to make the same speed in a much shorter period.

2016 Rebel TRX Concept

2021 Dodge Ram Hellcat Will Be Reserved for Rebel TRX

The thing you should know is that the new engine won’t be available across the whole range. Moreover, it will be reserved for the model called Rebel TRX, which will be an off-road performance model. Therefore, you may count on various other upgrades, not just on a more powerful engine. Of course, one of the first things that come to mind is a new suspension setup. Of course, higher ground clearance is a certain thing. The new Rebel TRX will sit 2-inches higher compared to the standard Rebel model. Also, count on premium suspension components, which will provide excellent off-road performances, including suspension travel of around 14 inches.

Of course, we count on all kinds of typical off-road upgrades, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics. Off-road tires and unique wheels seem like a certain thing, as well as skid plates, tow hooks and other things. Naturally, we count on numerous styling details. However, the testing model still wears a camouflage, so it’s hard to be precise at this point.

New Banshee Engine For a More Civilized Version

Besides the new 2021 Dodge Ram Hellcat, we also count on an off-road version with a little bit more civilized engine. This model will probably be called Rebel TR, without the “X” letter and it is expected to come with FCA’s new V8 engine. The new unit will feature a displacement of 7.0 liters and will be codenamed “Banshee”, after the famous fighter jet. Unlike the Hellcat, this will be a naturally-aspirated engine, with a max output of 525 horsepower, roughly.

2021 Dodge Ram Hellcat Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2021 Dodge Ram Hellcat sometime in the last quarter of the year. It’s still early to talk about the price, but some sources suggest a sum between 65.000 and 70.000 dollars. On the other side, the TR model with the Banshee engine will probably go around 55.000 dollars.

It looks like the new version of the popular pickup truck is on the way. The latest spy shots show that the company is working on something pretty big, on a model that will compete with the currently-undisputed Ford Raptor. Therefore, expectations from the new model are pretty big, as we count not just on lots of off-road capability, but also on plenty of power. According to the latest reports, that would be the monstrous 6.2-liter Supercharged engine, so the new truck would actually come as the 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat.

For a long time, Ford Raptor has been an undisputed leader when it comes to hi-performance off-roaders. There are some models from other manufacturers that are also quite capable, but all of them are still far away from what Raptor offers. It looks like this will finally change with the 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat, which should offer equally great off-road capabilities, but also a significantly higher max output. We expect to see it by the end of the year.

2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat Engine

When it comes to the engine, things are pretty clear. The testing model has been spotted and the 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat hood obviously shows that there is a supercharged under it. So, it’s not hard to realize that we are talking about the monstrous 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine, which delivers around 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Such output promises spectacular performances, something we’ve never seen before from a pickup truck.

The best thing about the Raptor is a great balance between power and weight. On the other side, Ram might be heavier, but 257 horses is still a huge difference to be erased with some weight savings. Therefore, we have no doubt that the 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat engine will provide quicker acceleration and higher top speed. On the other side, off-road capabilities will depend many things.

2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat Engine

2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat Design

As we’ve just mentioned, off-road capabilities will depend on many things and one of the first things that come to mind is the suspension. Of course, we count on a completely new setup and from what we can see in spy photos, the rear suspension will feature significantly larger springs and longer-trave shocks. Also, we can easily notice bigger 35-inch wheels, as well as higher ground clearance. Of course, similar upgrades are expected at the front.

Besides new suspension design, we also count on new brakes and all kinds of other mechanical upgrades.

Styling

Besides various suspension and chassis upgrades, we also count on loads of visual updates, which will accentuate the model’s hi-performance nature. At this point, we can presume that the new model will take a lot of inspiration from the previous TRX concept. Although based on the previous generation, this concept should show us the direction of the way of the new pickup truck. Naturally, we count on all kinds of upgrades, starting from new bumpers, unique steering wheels and similar things. Also, we expect to see a completely new grille design, which won’t just look more attractive but should also be designed in such a way to provide loads of fresh air for the engine. Naturally, we also count on those typical off-road details, including skid plates, roll bars and similar things.

When it comes to interior design, we should see a couple of new details as well. However, it’s hard to talk about anything more precise at the moment.

Release And Price

We expect to see this version by the end of the year. When it comes to the 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat price, we presume that base versions will go around 55.000-60.000 dollars.

From today’s perspective, Dodge Rampage seems like a forgotten concept, even by experts. However, many believe that this pickup truck has more potential today than it had 13 years ago. Simply, the truck market is getting bigger these days and such vehicles are more popular than ever. It’s not only about full-size models like F-150 or Ram 1500. Mid-size trucks are becoming more popular as well. This also includes unibody models as well. Honda Ridgeline successfully competes with traditional trucks for almost 15 years, while brand new models from Hyundai and some other carmakers are about to come in the near future as well. All this makes Dodge Rampage 2006 Concept something that may serve as the basis for the new unibody pickup truck, or even coupe utility that could come from FCA.

At this point, it is only a speculation, but definitely sounds likely.

Dodge Rampage 2006 Concept Design

When it comes to the Dodge Rampage 2006 Concept, this vehicle came with a pretty uncommon design approach for the time. Despite the bold and pretty rugged look, it is actually a car-based truck, which rides on a unibody platform. That makes it very driveable, something that isn’t necessary a pickup truck. The ride quality is much better. It is smoother, while handling is direct and responsive. Also, we should mention a lighter body, better efficiency, driving dynamics etc.

Dodge Rampage 2006 Concept

Traditional truck drivers probably wouldn’t like limited towing capabilities of a unibody platform. Still, there’s no doubt that many potential drivers would love this super-versatile design, which stands somewhere in the middle between a mid-size pickup truck and coupe utility vehicles.

The concept version features a 5-foot cargo beet, which seems like a decent size. More importantly, the cabin is spacious and very comfortable. There is no B-pillar, which allows suicide doors, which in practice means significantly more convenient access to the second row of seats.

Familiar Nameplate

The Rampage is a pretty familiar nameplate. Besides this concept, the nameplate was also used for a ute from the 80s. Unlike Ford and Chevy, which were producing Ranchero and El Camino for decades, Dodge started with such an approach in the 80s, when such vehicles weren’t as popular as before. Therefore, the model wasn’t very successful and production lasted for just a couple of years, between 1982 and 1984.

Dodge Rampage rear

We would definitely like to see new Rampage

Given the current situation on the market, we would definitely love to see a vehicle like this on the market. We believe that such a design has plenty of potentials, especially if it comes a little bit closer to the coupe utility segment, compared to the Dodge Rampage 2006 Concept. Lower ground clearance and a less rugged look is the first thing that comes to mind, but there is much more. Of course, we expect a spacious and comfortable cabin as well, while the powertrain department will be interesting as well.

When it comes to engines, the concept version was powered with the same 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine we can see today. Of course, the engine has been significantly updated and now features much more power and better efficiency. It can be found in the new Ram 1500 as well. It delivers around 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, the engine is available with a mild-hybrid system called eTorque. It has a highly positive effect on the fuel economy.

Speaking of the electrifications, this model may be a perfect opportunity for FCA to offer some of the new plug-in hybrid or even all-electric powertrain options.

How likely is the new Dodge Rampage?

Unfortunately, not much. The new model is just nothing more than speculation and the company is still quiet on this matter. Still, this could easily change in the near future if the truck market continues to develop is such speed. Also, we believe that the new model would probably come under Ram’s badge.

Modern Rampage has been revived with a Dodge Hellcat rendering

Dodge Hellcat

Earlier this year, we saw something very interesting. A group of car enthusiasts created a couple of rendering photos that show how the new Rampage would look like. The model is named Dodge Hellcat and things with its design are pretty simple. It is a coupe ute version of the Challenger, which features the same look as the popular muscle car, but with a cargo bed instead of rear seats and trunk. The Dodge Hellcat looks amazing, exactly what we would expect from the new Rampage. Still, the most interesting thing about this model is that it supposes to have a 6.2-liter Supercharged Hellcat under the hood. With more than 700 horsepower, this would be a real drag racer, with a quarter-mile time in about 11 seconds. Read more about Dodge Hellcat here.

The segment of mid-size pickup trucks is live again. The demand for these vehicles is bigger than ever, so models like Tacoma and Colorado aren’t the only models in the segment. The Ranger came back after years of hiatus, while there is also a brand-new Jeep Gladiator. Finally, the ancient Nissan Frontier is also about to get a redesign in the near future. Therefore, the 2021 Dodge Dakota sounds like a natural thing.

Despite that FCA has recently introduced the new Gladiator, we can’t look at this model as a typical mid-size truck, something that can compete with models like Ranger or Colorado. Simply, there is a huge price gap between these models, as the base Gladiator starts at around 35.000 dollars. The new Dodge Dakota 2021, on the other side, would be a typical work machine, with the cheaper interior, smaller base engine and similar features, including a single cab layout. At his point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation.

Another thing that may bother you is the name. Most likely, the new Dakota will be a part of Ram brand, though we are still waiting for some words from the officials.

2021 Dodge Dakota Design

In terms of base design characteristics, there is no doubt that the 2021 Ram Dakota will stick to its traditions. A typical mid-size truck layout is something we expect to see. Naturally, the new model should have a lot in common with the Gladiator. The two models will ride on the same platform and share most of the mechanics. Moreover, the new 2021 Dodge Dakota will also be built in Ohio.

On the other side, we count on the notable difference in terms of 2021 Dodge Dakota specs. One of the things that come to mind is the size. The Gladiator is a pretty large vehicle, which seems logical, considering its crew cab layout. On the other side, the Dakota is expected to come in various body styles in the offer, so we may see versions with both single and two rows of seats, different bed sizes etc. All this indicates different wheelbase lengths as well.

Exterior

While the mechanics are about to be largely the same as in the Gladiator, we count on a completely new different exterior design. Naturally, the styling will be heavily inspired by the new generation of the full-size Ram 1500. In practice, this means we won’t see the famous crosshair grille design, which is something that characterized Ram/Dodge vehicles for decades.

Other than that, we count on a typical truck layout, with a lot of similarities with the full-size counterpart. Moreover, the overall shape should be pretty similar, just in a smaller package. As we already mentioned, the 2021 Dodge Dakota should come in different body styles. The offer should start with single cab models, while extended and double cab versions should be in the offer as well.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, we presume that a lot of inspiration will once again be taken from the full-size 1500 models. If that happens, the new 2021 Dodge Dakota will feature a pretty stylish cabin, full of quality materials and with a pretty stylish dashboard. Of course, this would include a large touchscreen at the center console (not as large as in the Ram 1500), as well as all other kinds of advanced tech goodies. Still, keep in mind that the new Dakota will need to have a competitive price, so most of these features will be available in higher trims only. Standard models will probably be pretty basic in this aspect.

2021 Dodge Dakota Engines

A wide engine offer is another thing we expect to see from the 2021 Ram Dakota. While the Gladiator comes with a V6 engine only, we presume that four-cylinder versions will be available in this case as well. Most likely, we will see the same turbo-four that powers the new Wrangler, while the aforementioned V6 will be reserved for higher trims. The two engines are similar in terms of power, but the turbo-four features more torque, which in practice means a little bit better driving dynamics.

Also, we expect to see a diesel version in the offer. That should be a 3.0-liter inline-six, which delivers around 260 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Which such numbers, we expect nothing less than class-leading ratings.

2021 Dodge Dakota Release Date and Price

The 2021 Dodge Dakota is still waiting for the official confirmation. So, all those reports that suggest a launch date for the next year should be taken with a reserve, as it’s also possible to see this truck a little bit later. On the other side, things are pretty simple when it comes to the price. This truck needs to be affordable if the company wants to successfully compete with rivals. Therefore, base models shouldn’t cost more than 25.000 dollars.

After numerous Dodge Dakota coming back rumors, it looks like something is really happening. The segment of mid-size trucks is popular once again, so many manufacturers are bringing back their models to the U.S. market. Besides already established models like Tacoma and Colorado, the Ford Ranger is also coming back, while the Frontier is finally about to get redesigned. After seeing all these names, it seems logical to expect 2020 Dodge Dakota as well, especially if we consider that the development won’t take too much time and resources.

Namely, we recently saw a premiere of a completely new Jeep Gladiator, so there is no doubt that the new Dakota would use the same mechanics. If we can rely on the latest reports, the new model could arrive already in the next year.

2020 Dodge Dakota Design

In terms of base design characteristics, the new Dakota is about to share many of its characteristics with the new Gladiator, as well already mentioned. There is no doubt it will ride on the same platform and feature pretty much same mechanics. Of course, it will come with its own styling, based on the brand’s new design language, which has been presented recently with the new Ram 1500. Most likely, the company will present some kind of a 2020 Dodge Dakota concept version first, while the production would start a couple of months later.

In any case, we count on multiple variants in the offer, with different bed sizes, cabin designs and much more. While some reports even suggest Dodge Dakota convertible, we don’t expect that this will happen.

Interior

When it comes to the interior design, we have no doubt that the new 2020 Dodge Dakota will look very good from the inside. The recently introduced Ram 1500 features by far the best cabin in its class, so we hope the new mid-size truck will borrow some design solutions from it. This particularly refers to the use of quality materials, which will make this truck look very upscale from the inside. Good sound insulation is another thing we hope for. Finally, there is a matter of tech features and other standard equipment. We presume that the list of standard features will be long and that will include some of the latest tech goodies that this company has to offer. The first thing that comes to mind is FCA’s amazing infotainment system, which is arguably one of the best in the whole industry.

2020 Dodge Dakota Engines

Considering that the new 2020 Dodge Dakota is about to share a lot of things with the new Gladiator, we have no doubt that two trucks will use the same engines as well. Therefore, count on a well-known 3.6-liter V6, which is good for about 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. We also count on a new 2.0-liter turbo-four, which comes with a mild hybrid system. This unit delivers around 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and generally has a better performance than the V6.

Diesel Engine – Yes or No?

Considering that most rival companies are preparing diesel versions of their trucks, we could expect the same from Dodge. Of course, that should be a familiar 3.0-liter turbodiesel, the same one that powers Jeep Grand Cherokee. It delivers around 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.

2020 Dodge Dakota Release Date and Price

We are still waiting to hear something from the officials about the new truck, though many reports suggest it could arrive already in the next year. When it comes to the price, it is hard to predict the exact tag, as we don’t know which body styles will be in the offer. Most likely, it won’t go under 25.000 dollars.
