The truck is being redesigned and the new generation is about to debut next year. Among all the other changes, the 2025 Honda Ridgeline hybrid is something most interesting. We will probably find this system under the hood of the Pilot as well. Technical data is not available yet, but we are sure the hybrid is going to boost both power outputs and gas mileage.
According to reports, the 2025 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid is going to combine a V6 engine with an electric motor. We saw this combo previously on Acura MDX. Another option is to get a hybrid truck based on a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Honda is using something we can check on the Accord sedan. Still, the configuration needs an enhancement for the pickup.
The Ridgeline is spotted on the streets. Honda is testing the next-gen version which is coming out as the 2025 YM. The look is fresh, but camouflage is hiding most of the body. We couldn’t have an interior insight on available spy shots. The Ridgeline TrailSport is a new package that will enhance off-road capabilities. So, there are several reasons to wait for the 2025 Ridgeline debut.
2025 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Specs
We can expect a V6 or a turbo-four engine under the hood of a hybrid truck. Honda already had a 3.0-liter V6 in combination with electric motors for the premium Acura MDX SUV. However, this configuration is discontinued. It seems good enough for the pickup with 320 hp and improved fuel economy.
An existing V6 could be also revisited and paired with a battery. The power output can be at a similar level, while gas mileage must be around 30 mpg. On the other hand, the towing capacity is not the best and this is already one of the Ridgeline’s downsides.
A four-cylinder engine is the main source of power for the Accord hybrid. However, 205 horsepower is not enough for the 2025 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid. This one can be a great option to get improved fuel economy. Besides that, the pickup won’t get some major benefits.
Finally, the truck might be a plug-in hybrid. There is no info about this one, but spy photos from the past keep the hope alive. A few years ago, the Pilot SUV was spotted with a lid above the front wheel. However, this system never entered production. We can blame the COVID outburst for the delay, but the company can’t prolong it for too long.
2025 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Competition
For now, there are no too many hybrid trucks. Ridgeline is a midsize model and rivals in this segment will arrive next year. Toyota announced the new Tacoma hybrid, and Jeep Gladiator 4xe is the PHEV system. If you want a pickup with superb gas mileage for small deliveries in urban areas, the Ford Maverick is an excellent choice thanks to 35 mpg combined. However, it can’t tow a lot. If you need to haul more, the Toyota Tundra iForce Max can offer 12,000 pounds. The full-size truck costs more. A combination of a V6 engine and electric motor creates 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque.
Next-Gen Ridgeline Release Date
Many automotive magazines speculated about the redesign and the new generation. The current version is from 2017. However, since the Ridgeline is not a BoF truck, the competition in the midsize segment has the advantage. As a matter of fact, Honda takes the last position in the sales charts.
It seems like the unibody truck market is becoming more active thanks to the arrival of compact models. Ford and Hyundai shook up the truck world with Maverick and Santa Cruz. Well, truckers won’t pay too much attention to such crossover-based pickups, but the fact is – there is a new class of trucks. The Japanese company will try to be the #1 here and the best way is to launch a new vehicle.
The next-gen Ridgeline, with fresh styling and a hybrid engine, can do the job. The release date is not set yet, but you should expect the truck to be out next summer. Then we will learn more about the 2025 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid specs, pricing and trim levels accessories.
Ridgeline TrailSport Package
The 2025 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid is one of the models we can’t wait to see. But when it comes to visual appearance and performance upgrades, the TrailSport package is drawing more attention. The pickup is going to be equipped with a unique suspension setup with a body lift, 4×4 drive, skid plates, and a few bed accessories that will make towing more convenient. This trim level is already available for the Pilot SUV. Honda is waiting for the next-gen truck to add both a TrailSport package and a hybrid engine. The price depends on the size of the powerplant, while the off-road model might be the most expensive configuration in the lineup.
