The all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD will arrive with mid-cycle improvements. As you probably know, this heavy-duty truck introduced a redesign last year. Because of that, we don’t expect to see major updates. The 2022MY should deliver a couple of interesting, but still minor tweaks. Anyway, first spy shots are already available.
The spy photos are showing a heavily camouflaged prototype, so we can’t exactly see what is new. The interior will surely introduce various technology updates. However, the performances won’t change at all. Complete Silverado HD lineup will hit the markets later this year.
2022 Silverado 2500HD Facelift
The spied 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD didn’t show its new suite. Whatsoever, heavy camouflage perfectly hides almost the complete exterior. We believe the arriving truck will get a couple of cosmetic upgrades. The goal is to deliver a truck that looks closer to the Silverado 1500 variant.
However, the heavy-duty truck looks more robust but it is the same design language. The Chevrolet could surprise us with new exterior paints and a longer list of standard equipment. However, we can’t say if the truck wears different styling. It looks like the grille is wider, but that’s all we manage to spot.
Mechanical Upgrades
Changes under the skin are more likely. Thanks to that, the new 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD will deliver a couple of upgrades. The latest reports are suggesting improved suspension and new brakes. Chevrolet wants to compete with Ford and Ram, so those changes are a must.
However, we don’t know if that would be enough, as both Ford and Ram are offering more potent engines. Anyway, Silverado 2500HD is still a very capable truck with great towing capacity and versatility.
Engine Specs
The all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD will once again offer both diesel and gasoline engine options. A 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 is optional, but it is a more popular choice. Diesel powertrain develops 445 hp and up to 910 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, a standard 6.6-liter gasoline engine generates 400 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.
The gasoline variant comes with a six-speed automatic, while the diesel version offers a ten-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, towing capacity is rated at 15,000 pounds for the gasoline, and at 36,000 pounds for the diesel engine. And while those figures are impressive, both Ram and Ford are offering better engine specs.
2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Price, Release Date
In terms of price, this truck will start at $34,000. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD is an affordable model in our opinion, but we’d recommend you to skip the base trim level. If you want a diesel powertrain, you’ll have to pay additional money for it. Anyway, Silverado 2500HD is a unique and capable truck and it will go on sale in the second half of 2021.
