2021 Chevy Silverado SS Rumors and Expectations

While the rest of The Big Three work on a new super capable off-road version, it looks like Chevy is going in a completely opposite direction. We all know how fantastic is Ford Raptor and the  Blue Oval company now prepares a new version, based on a V8 engine. On the other side, FCA works on a Hellcat version of the new Ram 1500. Chevy also works on a new performance version but interestingly, it won’t be an off-roader. Instead, the new version will come as the 2021 Chevy Silverado SS, which will be a road-focused performer, just like it was the case in the early 2000s.

At this point, we don’t know any particular details about this version. At this point, the company is still quiet on this matter, while main reports are coming from unofficial sources like GM Authority etc. All in all, there is a still big question mark after this truck, so take the following paragraphs with a reserve.

2021 Chevy Silverado SS Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, it’s not hard to predict that the new 2021 Chevy Silverado SS will be based on the current generation of the popular pickup truck The current Silverado has been around for a while and it has brought loads of improvements compared to the previous generation. As you may presume, this version would bring further upgrades.

Of course, some of the first things that come to mind are chassis and suspension upgrades. As this is going to be a street-performer, it’s not hard to presume that the new suspension setup won’t be soft and that we won’t see much of travel. In order to provide low center of gravity, the 2021 Chevy Silverado SS will sit much closer to the ground and come with sporty lower-profile tires. Furthermore, we count on new brakes and all kinds of chassis upgrades.

Styling

When it comes to aesthetics, there is no doubt that the 2021 Chevy Silverado SS would come with loads of upgrades that will accentuate the model’s performance character. Some rendering photos have already appeared. As we already mentioned, they show the new truck with much lower ground clearance. Of course, there are large wheels with low profile tires, sporty bumpers and all other kinds of upgrades.

Interestingly, the rendering photo shows a model with a single cab layout bed. We still can’t talk about such details, but we are pretty sure that the 2021 Chevy Silverado SS will be offered with two rows of seats as well. This photo clearly indicates that Chevy may be working on multiple cab layouts and bed sizes for this version. More details about this should be known in the future.

Interior

This is a tricky one. First of all, we have to mention that the whole lineup is about to come with a new dashboard design for the next year. As you probably know, the recent redesign didn’t bring a new dash, which remained the same as in the previous-generation model. However, this will change soon and the next-year Silverado will come with a completely new layout, probably the same one we can see in the new Tahoe and Suburban models.

Besides the obvious improvement in terms of style and quality, we may presume that the 2021 Chevy Silverado SS will come with loads of exclusive details as well. Some of the things that come to mind are new seats with “SS” stitching, unique color schemes and similar thing. Of course, a couple of exclusive features on the list of standard equipment seem possible as well. Just like we’ve mentioned, the Silverado SS should be available in several cab versions and bed lengths.

2021 Chevy Silverado SS Engine

Despite all the upgrades, the most interesting aspect of the 2021 Chevy Silverado SS should be under the hood. Although it is still early for details, we may presume that Chevy will offer a more potent version of the current 6.2-liter V8 unit. The current version puts out quite respectable 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque but we have no doubt that the new model will bring something peppier.

Some sources suggest we might see the version from Camaro, which puts out around 455 horsepower, while a 490-hp version from the new Corvette seems possible as well. If Chevy plans something with a Supercharge, the max output would definitely go over 600 horses. At this point, we can only wait for some details from the company.

2021 Chevy Silverado SS Release Date and Price

While the 2021 Chevy Silverado SS is still just a rumor, some sources suggest it may arrive already in the next year. When it comes to the price, we presume that the new model would go somewhere between 60.000 and 70.000 dollars, roughly.
