Hi-performance off-road pickup trucks have become quite popular niche among truckers in the past several years. There are models like Ford Raptor, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, Ram Rebel etc. On the other side, Chevy still hesitates with such a version, so it’s no wonder that it was made by a third party in the past. Given the current situation in GM, it looks like we could easily see the same scenario in the next year, with the 2021 Chevy Reaper.
As you may presume, the well-known tuner, Ken Lingenfelter, would be responsible for this model once again and we have no doubt that things would be even more impressive, compared to the previous generation. The 2021 Chevy Reaper is still waiting for the official confirmation, but many reports suggest this will certainly happen.
2021 Chevy Reaper Exterior Design
We presume that Ken Lingenfelter will use the same approach with the new 2021 Chevy Reaper. Of course, the new generation of Silverado, which arrived last year, will serve as the basis. On the other side, we presume that the new version will come with similar kinds of upgrades, which include both mechanical and visual modification.
When it comes to mechanical modifications, the first thing that comes to mind is a full load of off-road upgrades. If you look at the original Reaper, you can see things like 20-inch Beadlock wheels, a Fox Racing suspension system, a high-clearance bumper, reinforced skid plate and an integrated floodlight system. We presume that the new version would come with all of them, plus some more.
In terms of the styling, the original version featured significantly modified front end, with new headlights, grille, bumper etc. So, we have no doubt that things won’t be much different from the 2021 Reaper.
Interior Design
Designers of this off-roader had mostly performances in their minds when they were working on the original model. So, we haven’t seen any particular change on the inside. Things were pretty much the same as in the standard Silverado, so we presume that the approach won’t be any different in the new model either. Still, there is one tricky question. That would be the fact that 2021 Silverado is coming with a completely new interior. So far, the model features the cabin layout based on the previous generation. Which one will find its place in the 2021 Chevy Reaper, it is hard to say at the moment.
2021 Chevy Reaper Engine
Of course, all those chassis and suspension upgrades will need a strong backup in terms of engine power, so we have no doubt there will be modifications in this aspect too. Without any doubt, that would be an upgraded version of the well-known 6.2-liter Small Block engine, which in its base variants delivers around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The previous Reaper received significant help from a supercharger, so the max output went all-away up to 550 horsepower.
We presume that the max output will be even higher in the new 2021 Chevy Reaper. One of the reasons why we believe in such a thing is the fact that both Ford Raptor and Ram Rebel are allegedly coming with monstrous 700+ hp engines. Therefore, we could expect something similar to this model.
2021 Chevy Reaper Release Date and Price
At this point, the new 2021 Chevy Reaper is just a rumor, despite that many reports suggest its arrival. If it arrives one day, we presume that the price would go around 65/70.000 dollars. As we’ve just mentioned, key competitors will be Ford Raptor and Ram Rebel TRX.
