2020 Audi Pickup Truck Rumors, Prelease Date and Specs

This is not a rumor, the 2020 Audi pickup truck is officially confirmed! In the past, pickup trucks were considered only as work machines but things are changing these days. Not only that traditional truck makers are now offering hi-end trim levels with plenty of luxury, but there are also some premium brands that offer their models, such as Mercedes-Benz X-Class.

Other premium manufacturers are preparing something similar for the future and Audi is one of them. Allegedly, the luxury truck from this company is about to come already in the next year, as the 2020 Audi Pickup Truck. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation, but it looks like something is really happening, according to our reliable sources.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind with trucks is an old-school, rugged body-on-frame platform. Premium carmakers usually don’t have models based on such platforms in their offer. For example, the aforementioned X-Class borrows the platform from Nissan. Audi also doesn’t have many options.

There is a VW Amarok pickup, but it seems a little bit outdated. Therefore, it sounds much more likely that the 2020 Audi Pickup Truck will actually ride on a modern unibody platform. It won’t be the first time to see such a vehicle on the market. Honda Ridgeline uses the same type of architecture and competes very successfully on the markets for many years. Benefits are obvious, especially in terms of comfort, handling, and overall driving characteristics.

How would the 2020 Audi Pickup Truck look like?

This is definitely the thing that bothers all of us. At this point, we can’t say anything specific, but we can speculate about some most basic design characteristics. First of all, there is a matter of size. We are pretty sure that a full-size pickup truck is a too big challenge for Audi at the moment, so the new 2020 Audi Pickup Truck should compete in the mid-size class.

Still, that doesn’t mean that the new model won’t be spacious and comfortable. The new truck definitely won’t come in those work-oriented, single cab variants. Expect to see a crew cab layout, with a lot of styling influence from models like Audi Q7 and recently introduced Q8. The new truck should follow the same design language, particularly at the front. Of course, the rear end would come with a cargo bed, in a typical truck manner.

Interior

When it comes to the cabin design, we count on a crew-cab layout, as we already mentioned. In terms of the overall layout, we have no doubt that the dashboard will look pretty much the same as in the aforementioned models. In practice, this means a lot of hi-quality materials and very stylish design, full of horizontal lines and elegant shapes. Also, this means a full load of latest tech features, which includes also includes things like Audi’s familiar 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, better-known as Virtual Cockpit, as well as other goodies.

Engine Options

Under the hood, we presume that the new truck will come with a wide palette of engines in the offers. North American models will probably come with just one unit in the offer, a familiar V6 unit that features max output of around 335 horsepower. In the rest of the world, we count on a smaller 2.0-liter turbo-four as well, which is good for about 250 horsepower. Finally, count on diesel versions in Europe, powered by a familiar 3.0-liter TDI, which comes in various output variants. Eventually, we could see some hi-performance version as well.

However, according to the last information from the British website www.parkers.co.uk the Audi pickup is confirmed and it will be powered by 3.0-liter TDI engine. This is the same engine that gives power to the new VW Amarok.

Release Date and Price

When it comes to the 2020 Audi Pickup Truck release date, latest reports are suggesting the new model could come already in the next year. However, keep in mind that we are still waiting for official confirmation. The starting price should go around 45.000 dollars.
