2025 Ford F-350 Dually is the Best Truck for Towing

If you want to maximize the towing capacity on your HD truck, you need a dual-rear wheel setup and a diesel engine. Such a configuration is the 2025 Ford F-350 Dually and it is ready to haul over 35,000 pounds properly equipped. Even in the base form, the truck can haul at least 20k pounds with either engine. But, the dually truck best performs with a turbodiesel. You will also have a couple of petrol engines available.

The Super Duty lineup of Ford trucks is also available for Series 2 and the F-450 is something between the HD and Light Duty class. It also offers DRW configuration, while it is unavailable for the F-250. It has some exclusive packages and features.

All in all, the competition in the dually truck world is tough, although there are only two rivals (three if we look at GM twins separately). If you are looking for the DRW system, then Ram 3500 and Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra 3500 are alternatives. All of them are offering similar configurations. Dually models can tow more than 35,000 lbs, no matter which model you pick. But, if any company makes a break in updating, rivals could soon be at 40k pounds. That is why every year Series 3 trucks are arriving with increased towing capacity.

2025 Ford F-350 Dually Specs

Under the hood of the F-350 truck is one of the following engines: a 6.8-liter petrol; a 7.3-l petrol; a 6.7-liter turbodiesel. All of them are eight-cylinder units with massive outputs. Well, the truck needs to haul a lot. The first one is good for 405 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. The 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 is very interesting plant. Many fans are expecting this one to be a powertrain for some big SUVs. Rumors about the comeback of the Excursion model are warmed up since the debut of the huge engine. It supplies the truck with 430 hp and 485 lb-ft.

Finally, the 2025 Ford F-350 Dually can achieve the maximum towing capacity only with the oil burner. It is a 6.7-liter turbocharged Powerstroke mill with 475 hp. Even more impressive output is 1,050 lb-ft of torque, which can raise up to 1,100 lb-ft for the 2025 YM. Nevertheless, the base towing capacity is 21,000 pounds. Properly equipped, the truck can tow up to 37,000 lbs, but for that you need a few upgrades. The most important one is a dual rear wheel drive to carry the entire load.

Packages

The F-350 truck can be turned in the home on wheels. Bumper to bumper length is 266 inches. So, there is plenty of room for passengers and cargo, no matter what configuration you pick. Ford can turn this truck into a luxury vehicle with high-end equipment. For example, Limited and Platinum packages are there with the most advanced features and systems that will make both ride and work more comfortable. Still, not too many buyers are paying so much for a truck, since the price of the heavily-loaded F-350 could hit $100k.

The base package is the XL. The XLT adds cool features and those two trims are available with every engine and cab configuration. The Lariat is the most popular version and it becomes available when you upgrade the Regular Cab to the Super Cab. The Crew Cab unlocks the best options – including King Ranch, Platinum and Limited grades. The 2025 Ford F-350 Dually is available only with the Crew Cab.

Changes For the 2025 YM

The DRW is a special upgrade and it carries all the goodies the standard model and grades are bringing. From what we can hear, the company is not planning big changes for the Super Duty segment. The focus is on the electrification. Legendary F-150 introduced the Lightning package with battery as a powertrain. The next one is Ranger, although the compact Maverick pickup is about to become an EV eventually.

Small cosmetic upgrades are possible and reshuffle of options across the trim levels. Under the hood you will find all the engines available at the moment. Engineers might squeeze out a bit more torque from the diesel setup. Ram 3500 creates 25 lb-ft more than the F-350. Interesting, Silverado 3500 creates ‘just’ 910 lb-ft.
