2022 Ram 2500 is Coming With the New Allison Transmission

The forthcoming 2022 Ram 2500 is one of the market’s most promising heavy-duty trucks. It is already one of the most popular models in the segment right now. This vehicle is quite capable and gets the job done. The 2022MY will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor. However, certain improvements are on the way, and we expect the greatest model yet.

Powerful gasoline and diesel engines are currently available and nothing will change in the future. The Ram 2500’s towing capability is tremendous, and it will once again rival the Ford F-250 and Chevy Silverado 2500 variants. The cabin will introduce a couple of refreshments too. Ram will once again sell a variety of trim levels and limited editions and all variants will gain the same updates.

Ram 2500 Will Look Sharper Than Before

The new 2022 Ram 2500 in 2022 will be more attractive than its predecessor, visually. New model will surely look sharper and will have more defined lines. Furthermore, new exterior elements are reportedly in the works. Ram will deliver a larger split grille and narrower LED headlights. The Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 will both receive the same improvements, as always before.

There will be lots of things for customization because there will be so many trim levels. Ram also sells a few interesting and amazing editions. The Limited Night Edition is a great example. Interior Refreshments

On the inside, the new 2022 Ram 2500 will benefit from the latest updates. This is a familiar interior design that blends utility and comfort. As previously stated, the Ram 2500 model is similar to the Ram 1500 model. This is excellent to know because the Ram 1500’s inside is quite amazing. In the 2022MY, more high-quality items will be offered. There are also chrome and genuine wood accents for a more premium look.

The massive center console is dominated by a standard 12-inch touchscreen. This gadget is very easy to operate and has a faster response time than the current unit. The next-gen Uconnect5 infotainment system, as well as improved driver-assistance systems, are also on offer.

Engine Lineup Remains, New Transmission is On Offer

The upcoming 2022Ram 2500 will continue to provide two well-known engine options. This heavy-duty truck has both gasoline and diesel engines, which is a good thing. Both variants are proven and potent. The basic engine is a 6.4-liter V8 gasoline engine with up to 410 horsepower. This engine also includes an eight-speed automatic gearbox and cylinder deactivation system. A rear-wheel-drive system is standard, but the AWD system will be standard on the Power Wagon variant.

The optional 6.7-liter Cummins engine, on the other hand, remains the finest option. This turbodiesel engine generates 370 horsepower. More importantly, the diesel powertrain delivers 850 lb-ft of torque, with the 2022MY introducing even more torque. While it has not been confirmed, Ram may introduce a brand-new 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. If this is true, it will be the most significant improvement this year.

The 10 speed trans is not an improvement. They are giving the Ford Super Duty plenty of problems.

      your key word. FORD

I think the 10 speed will be great for the low output diesel. My Ram with 800 lb-ft of torque couldn’t,t pull hills in the mountains towing a 9000 lb trailer. I bought a new Chevrolet with the 10spd Allison and it is much better.

A 10 speed transmission in a RAM pickup behind the 6.7L Cummins is an answer in search of a question. Adding multiple over-drive ratios for minuscule improvements in fuel consumption and/or wear & tear, is off-set by increased complexity, weight and servicing. Unlike V-8 diesels, an inline six is inherently balanced and efficient, doing best at steady RPMs. Shifting to maintain a narrow RPM range of operation has its place, but at what point is too much too much?
ZF already has an excellent 8-speed commercial grade transmission in use in Europe. Aisin is said to have an improved transmission along the lines of the present 6-speed, but with a few extra speeds, two of which are overdrive ratios. Few diesel powered pickup trucks are used in ways requiring 3 or 4 overdrive ratios. Better to put R&D resources into producing a strong, solid, easily maintain 8-speed transmission behind an already superb Cummins Diesel engine.

I dropped in a 4.88 posi in my supercharged Tundra. The 6 spd has a .54:1 OD 6th. This kept RPM’s down near my 4.30 where if I’m driving steady at 70mph, the RPMs stay around 2300. The 4.30 was at or near 2100 rpms/70mph. That’s reasonable enough to allow 16-18 mpg hwy. It’s 2wd and It pulls hard and shifts smoothly. I generally see slightly lower mpg in city or mixed driving. The OD does help, though a .48:1 would do well in an 8 spd. and the 8 spd would be all I need in gas or diesel. My ‘02 Duramax had a 5 spd Allison that shifted abruptly. You need at least a 6 spd but not more than 8 spds. The 3.42 seemed to be enough to pull heavy but had I gone to a 3.73, I’d have liked at least a 6 spd with OD. The Allison felt like it had too much of a drop down in RPM when it shifted into 5th.

Can anyone confirm if this is true, or just speculation for the transmission?

I just talked to a sales lady at a Dodge dealer and she told me that the 6.7 liter Cummings diesel is not going to be available for the 2022 Dodge 2500 Power wagon. And she also said Chevrolet is not going to allow Dodge to put a Allison transmission in the 2022 Ram trucks this.So what i’m reading on this website,Pickuptrucknews.com,i wonder who is actually telling the truth or is the sales lady filling me up hot air.I think it would be awesome to have a 2022 dodge Power wagon with the Cummings diesel in it.

I have a “16 Power Wagon. Got away from the diesel Rams. Drives more like a 1500 with the lighter engine up front. Standard 4.10 gears help.. Pulls my car hauler etc. fine. Costs a good $10,000 less.
