The 2022 Kia Pickup Truck has been officially confirmed. The Korean manufacturer has just started to work on such a vehicle, according to the company’s spokesman. At this point, we know for sure that the development will be trusted to the Australian department. However, base design characteristics are still a mystery. At this point, we can only speculate about the key design characteristics of the new model.
Therefore, make sure to take the following paragraphs with a big reserve. Some of the things you’ll read are based on rumors, but most of them are nothing more but our prediction. Still, we are pretty confident in our powers of prediction and we believe that most of these things will actually happen.
2022 Kia Pickup Truck Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, one of the first things that come to mind is the platform. Although we are talking about one of the biggest carmakers in the world, the fact is that the Korean company doesn’t have a BoF platform in its portfolio. Therefore, there is a pretty big chance that the new 2022 Kia Pickup Truck will ride on a unibody platform. After all, the upcoming Hyundai Santa Cruz will be a typical unibody pickup, so we may expect the same from this one too.
Still, so sources suggest that Kia’s pickup will be bigger. Allegedly, it would be designed as a pickup with typical mid-size dimensions, which would compete primarily with Honda Ridgeline, but also with BoF pickups like Tacoma, Colorado etc. This means the new pickup truck would share a lot of things with the new Telluride. Some rendering photos even show the same front end, which would definitely make this truck look attractive.
This aspect is much harder to predict, especially if we consider that we are still waiting for the details about the size and overall layout. Still, we may presume that the dashboard would use the new Telluride as inspiration. It may look the same in some aspects as well. In any case, we count on a car-like layout, with fine-quality materials and attractive aesthetics. Moreover, the number of standard and available tech goodies should be pretty big. All that should be one of 2022 Kia Pickup Truck’s trump in this highly competitive segment.
On the other side, we are pretty sure that the unibody layout means just one cab style in the offer. Of course, we are talking about a crew cab design, which would provide two comfortable rows of seats and a high level of overall convenience.
2022 Kia Pickup Truck Engine
If we look at most pickups on the market, especially the future rival, Honda Ridgeline, we are pretty sure that the new 2022 Kia Pickup Truck would probably feature a V6 engine. Most likely, that would be the same 3.8-liter that can be found under the hood of Telluride, which puts out 292 horsepower and comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission. With that engine, we have no doubt that this truck would be pretty impressive, not just in terms of performances, but in terms of refinement as well.
Some sources suggest we might see something smaller and less powerful reserved for the base version. That might be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit, while some sources even suggest a turbo-four option. At this point, there is no word about electrification.
2022 Kia Pickup Truck Release Date and Price
We are pretty sure that the 2022 Kia Pickup Truck will arrive in less than two years. However, it’s still early for a more precise date. When it comes to the price, base models will probably go around 30.000 dollars.

Looks fairly worthless with that short bed.
Totally agree with you. There is room in the bed of the truck for a lazyboy recliner chair and a plotted plant. Great for a family of 4 to get groceries and not much else. 4 Doors, 4 Doors, everywhere you go. You would think that all of America is married with a bunch of kids. So weak, so lame and so lack of imagination. Forcing everyone to buy the same vehicle with not much choice. Detroit made the same mistake with their 1980’s PIG MOBILES that were 6 foot wide and 17 feet long lead sleds.
I do not want a Limo Truck. Give us a standard two seat cab with use able bed and four wheel drive. Nothing fancy just truck.
I love my Sorrento but I would like to have a real pick up truck that’s useful for towing and hauling not just to look pretty
make it Small truck preferably with a car style front end. used for general light household hauling. I would buy one today if available.
I”m with Mr. Talbert. It appears to me that the present truck manufactures have completely dismissed common sense and practibility. Their present offerings are monstrosities and unaffordable vehicles. I am hoping and raying the new coming of the Hyndai Santa Cruz will help alleviate this. American manufacturers come back down to earth!!!
Perhaps I should have said ” disregarded” rather than dismissed. I am confused in regards “awaiting moderation”
I will just keep buying 15 or 20 year old trucks. You can spend a ton of money making them nice and dependable without spending your retirement for it like a new truck.
They do have body-on-frame platform used for Mohave, but its pretty ancient:
I believe we are missing the point about the truck design. Designed to be a garage sale, shopping, picking up a piece of furniture type truck/car that suits the wife and husbands need in urban settings. I believe Kia has researched demographic trends to come up with this design in order to sell small pickups in the expanding market. segment otherwise why would they bother to build it? Not for everyone but has a niche.
Who’s gonna compete with the Ford Maverick? Can anyone else make a small hybrid pick and sell it at a price in the low $20K area? We have more than enough big gas-guzzling ICE trucks. Take a look at the price of gas and tell me that it makes sense to buy something like this Kia. Years ago, Kia showed a concept they called the “Soulster” based on the little Kia Soul. Develop that, put a hybrid in it or perhaps a BEV and sell it for under $25K and you’ll carve out new territory. This Telluride beast… nope. Same old… Same old.
