2022 Kia Pickup Truck Confirmed!

Small pickup trucks are once again an important segment in the automotive industry and that’s why we are seeing a lot of interesting novelties these days. Therefore, it’s no wonder that every major carmaker, including Kia, wants its piece of cake. The latest reports suggest that the Korean manufacturer is already working on the 2022 Kia Pickup Truck. So, we can say for sure that Hyundai Santa Cruz won’t be the only pickup truck to come from this part of the world in the near future. 

At this point, details are still unclear. Still, it’s not hard to conclude that the new pickup will share a lot of things with its corporal counterpart. Of course, we are talking about things like mechanics, while the visual appearance would be completely different. 

2022 Kia Pickup Truck Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, there is no doubt that the new Kia pickup truck will share a lot of things with the upcoming Santa Cruz. The sibling from Hyundai is also coming in about two years and from what we know so far, it will ride on a unibody platform. This means it will feature the same layout as the Honda Ridgeline, though we expect notably smaller proportions. While the Ridgeline is currently the only pickup truck of this kind, there are several new unibody pickups that are coming in the near future, including Ford Maverick. This one is expected to be one of the closest rivals. 

The official confirmation originally came from the Australian department. A few days later, we heard positive news about the 2022 Kia Pickup Truck USA as well. This led many car experts to the conclusion that this model should be bigger, given the preferences of American drivers. Some even speculate about the Kia Telluride Pickup Truck but we don’t believe this will happen. Instead, the 2022 Kia Pickup Truck should remain compact.

Interior Design

As the model is still miles away from the production version, there isn’t much sense to talk about the cabin design. Still, we’ve heard a lot of rumors that the new 2022 Kia Pickup Truck will come in a double cab layout only. This makes perfect sense, considering that this won’t be primarily a utility vehicle. When it comes to the dashboard and overall cabin layout, we are pretty sure that this model won’t be much different compared to what we can see in some crossovers from this manufacturer. This particularly refers to Sportage and Sorento, which are coming completely redesigned soon. All in all, you may count on a car-like interior, with fine materials, attractive aesthetics and lots of standards and available equipment.

2022 Kia Pickup Truck Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, we presume that the Korean manufacturer will be relying on familiar engine options. This includes naturally-aspirated units as well, so the base model will probably come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit. Of course, turbocharged units will be in the offer as well. We count on both 1.6- and 2.0-liter units, as the new model should be offered in different parts of the world. This also means the big possibility to see a diesel version as well. Of course, we are talking about a well-known 2.2-liter CRDi turbodiesel.

Eventually, the Kia Pickup Truck would come in a hybrid version as well. However, we are pretty sure that this powertrain won’t be ready for the initial launch.
