Complaints about the interiors of GM’s models aren’t that unusual. In many cases, cabins from this manufacturer feature subpar quality. This particularly refers to cheaper and smaller models but no one expected to see the same issue in pickup trucks. Therefore, truck enthusiasts will be glad to hear that the whole 2021 GMC Sierra lineup is about to get completely new interiors. We are eagerly waiting to see this, considering that the current cabin looks largely the same as the one in the previous-generation models.
Besides the new cabin, a couple of more updates are possible as well, particularly in terms of standard equipment. The rest of the truck, though, is about to remain the same, if we can rely on the latest reports. Given the big updates, we may presume that the 2021 GMC Sierra models will hit the market a little bit earlier than usual.
2021 GMC Sierra Gets New Interior
The 2021 GMC Sierra interior redesign was pretty much expected. If you are familiar with the whole story about the recent redesign, you know that GM has never planned to launch the new generation so soon. However, the new-generation Ram was almost ready, so the company’s management didn’t want to lose any of its loyal customers. Therefore, the new model was introduced, without bigger changes on the inside.
However, this will change in the next year. We are about to see a complete 2021 GMC Sierra redesign, and this will include both light-duty and heavy-duty models. At this point, we still don’t the exact look of the dashboard, but we know for sure that the new model will utilize a lot of high-quality materials and new tech features. Speaking of tech features, we will probably see a new, much bigger touchscreen, as the new Ram has set some new standards in this aspect.
2021 GMC Sierra Specs
With a new, much better interior design, we have no doubt that Sierra models will be more competitive than before, especially if we consider all the improvements that the recent redesign has brought. Of course, you will notice a new styling, but the thing with the new model is that a new T1 platform brings numerous improvements. Naturally, there is some notable weight reduction, which brings benefits in terms of efficiency and overall performance.
Still, that’s not the biggest improvement of this redesign. Sierra models are more capable than ever and we can finally say that GM can finally keep pace with rivals in this aspect. Moreover, some models are notably more capable than rivals from the blue oval company.
When it comes to 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, we expect no bigger changes, so models with a 6.2-liter V8 will be able to tow around 12.200 pounds. 3/4-ton trucks are the class where the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 stands pretty good. Of course, we are talking about a version with a 6.6-liter Duramax engine, which delivers a max output of 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 18.600 pounds, which is the second-highest rating in the class, behind Ram 2500.
Finally, there is the 2021 GMC Sierra 3500, a 1-ton pickup truck. It may feature the same engines as the 2500 model, but those springs and other suspension upgrades mean a lot when it comes to towing. So, you can count on about 21.500 pounds with the standard setup. If you opt for dual rear wheels, numbers can go all-away up to 35.100 pounds.
Release Date and Price
Given the interior redesign, we presume that 2021 GMC Sierra models will hit the market a little bit earlier than usual, probably in the third quarter of the next year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes. Base 1500 models go around 30.000 dollars, while HD models start at around 38.000 dollars. Naturally, the biggest rivals are Ford F-Series and Ram truck models.
