Ford F-150 Convertible Under Consideration

We saw some custom-made convertible models of the previous generation a couple of years ago but it looks the company now has bigger plans. It looks like you will be able to get a Ford F-150 Convertible truck directly from a factory, as the Blue Oval company is seriously considering such version for the near future. At this point, it is all about speculations, but considering the truck’s extreme popularity, we have no doubt that the demand for such a model is surprisingly high. The following paragraphs are just speculations, based on rumors that circulate on the network, so take them with a reserve.

So, what to tell about the iconic truck that you don’t know already. This legend has been the best-selling vehicle in North America for years. One of the reasons for such popularity is a variety of versions that are in the offer. Therefore, one of the questions that come to mind is the body style. Most likely, the new F 150 Convertible would be reserved for Super Crew cab layout. Visually, we should see any more notable changes than the removed roof. In practice, this would probably mean that the company would have to add a thick roll bar over B-pillars, in order to keep trucks rigidity. These design solutions would definitely play a significant role in the truck’s overall performances.

The overall design will largely be the same, but Ford could easily insert a couple of distinctive details that would accentuate its exclusive character. What does this actually mean, it is hard to tell at the moment. Still, we may expect things like unique wheels design, grille patterns, fender flares, and similar things. Of course, exclusive color options are also possible.

Interior

When it comes to the interior design, we presume that the Ford F-150 Convertible truck would come with the pretty much same interior design. Therefore, count on the same interior layout, characterized by plenty of space and quality materials. Still, keep in mind that the new version would probably be reserved for higher trim levels – Platinum and Limited.

That means you can expect color schemes that are typical for those trim levels, as well as leather upholstery. Of course, count on a long list of standard equipment. This includes tech upgrades like a bigger touchscreen, navigation, multi-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 11-speaker stereo system, HD and satellite radio, etc. This also means a lot of safety features and driver aids, including things like lane departure warning, power-deployable running boards, a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, etc.

It’s still early to talk about more specific details, but we presume that the Ford F-150 Convertible truck will probably come with two familiar units in the offer. The first one would be a familiar 3.5-liter V6, which delivers around 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The other one is a well-known 5.0-liter V8 Coyote. This one is good for about 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. In both cases, count on the company’s new 10-speed automatic transmission.

While some reports also suggest a diesel version, we don’t expect to see a convertible truck with an oil-burner. On the other side, hybrid powertrain definitely seems possible.

Release Date and Price

It is always hard to talk about models that are nothing more than a rumor. Therefore, we won’t predict any potential launch date. Still, we can ignore the latest reports about this version, which clearly indicate that something is definitely cooking in Ford’s kitchen. Still, we may have to wait for the next generation. Same goes for the Ford F-150 Convertible price. Still, due to a long list of standard equipment and some distinctive design solutions, we may presume that the starting price would be much higher compared to standard models.
