2022 Tacoma Trail Edition Gets New Wheels
The 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition is outfitted with 16-inch TRD rims wrapped in Goodyear all-terrain tires. This upgrade adds 0.5 inches to the track width. The Trail Edition features a revised grille with bronze lettering, black exterior badging, unique rear bumper. Moreover, a recognizable exterior color called Lunar Rock is on offer as well. This new exterior paint adds the already-existing Super White, Midnight Black Metallic, and Army Green. Some reports suggest that brand-new Yellow paint, or Lime to be more specific, will be introduced.
What Is It?
While the TRD Pro is the most well-known trim level, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition is not far behind. The Trail Edition is based on the Tacoma SR5 trim level and will be available in 2021. The Trail Edition improved the truck’s off-road capability by adding design and comfort features from the SR5.

Upgrades
The all-new 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition features a fresh design and exterior features. This includes an impressive grille design and unique badges. It also has a 120-volt power outlet and a lockable bed storage system. Most of the upgrades are off-road-oriented, so the new Tacoma Trail Edition will be an even more capable off-roader. Toyota, for starters, discontinues the rear-wheel-drive Trail Edition, which is now only offered as a 4×4 Double Cab. The Tacoma’s Double Cab, as opposed to the smaller Access Cab, is the larger cab with four full-size doors.
The Trail Edition also has a 1.1-inch front suspension raise and a 0.5-inch rear suspension lift owing to larger coil springs. This is paired with the elimination of the front air dam on the SR5, which increases approach, departure, and break-over angles. Toyota will also offer a standard locking rear differential as well as new skid plates developed from the TRD Off-Road variant. Of course, the cabin is very modern and upright. Nothing will change beneath the hood, which isn’t always a negative thing.
2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition Release Date, Price
Toyota has not yet disclosed pricing, but we expect it to be more than the current Trail Edition MSRP of approximately $38,000. The 2022 Tacoma Trail Edition will be available in the fall of 2021. The new Tacoma is built in Mexico since production has just been relocated from Texas.
