The upcoming 2022 Honda Ridgeline will arrive with mid-cycle refreshments. This popular pickup truck arrived with more dramatic updates, so the new Ridgeline won’t feature so significant changes. The 2021 model arrived with a standard all-wheel-drive and numerous improvements. Because of that, this model’s price is higher than before.
Now, the 2022MY will be a smooth-sail as most of the things are a carryover. There are still some rumors regarding the hybrid powertrain and sporty Type R variant. However, we’ll have to wait for Honda to reveal more details in the near future. The performances will most likely remain, while exterior and interior will suffer minor updates. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021.
2022 Ridgeline Redesign Not on the Cards
The current model arrive with a redesign. The front end is new, the hood is taller and the exterior design is more modern and more prominent. The 2022 Honda Ridgeline will hit the roads with small visual updates only. For a start, bodywork is slightly different and the dimensions are the same. Ridgeline will continue to compete in the mid-size pickup truck segment.
Styling is slightly closer to Honda Pilot SUV. After all, two models are also sharing the same platform. The front fascia only provides updated headlights and that’s about it. The grille is intact, but we could expect more chrome accents. The side profile remains, along with the rear section. Lastly, Honda could surprise us with the new exterior paints.
Interior Updates
On the inside, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline pickup continues with improvements. The cabin design and its layout are exactly the same as in the outgoing model. The 2021MY comes with updated infotainment and the physical volume now is once again available. As for the 2022 Ridgeline, we only expect to see new safety aids.
Like any other manufacturer, Honda is following the trends and Ridgeline needs to stay a competitive model. Clearly, Japanese manufacturer feels that there is no need for major interior upgrades at the moment. All trim levels are well equipped and Ridgeline offers a room for five passengers. Finally, Honda will provide more standard features and some new optional amenities.
V6 Specs and Hybrid Rumors
The forthcoming 2022 Honda Ridgeline will continue to offer its 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine. It is a familiar unit that develops 280 horsepower and up to 265 lb-ft of torque. Ridgeline is a reliable pickup truck with great performances. As we said, the all-wheel-drive system is now standard across the lineup, which is great to hear.
A six-speed automatic transmission remains, so things are unchanged. However, you can find a lot of speculations regarding the new hybrid powertrain option. Another rumor is Ridgeline Type R variant that will use a different and more potent engine. Honda is yet to reveal closer details and that will happen in the coming weeks.
2022 Honda Ridgeline Release Date, Price
The all-new 2022 Honda Ridgeline will hit the dealerships in the second half of 2021. Changes are minor so the price won’t change. Thanks to that, base Ridgeline will start at around $33,000. As we said, Ridgeline will continue to compete in the mid-size pickup truck segment, which is probably the strongest segment in the automotive world.
I like the new exterior look on the 2022 Ridge line, but the interior is still the same. The arm rests are awful, (too small) and the sound system could use a big upgrade.
