The story of the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 continues. It’s a thrilling pickup model with a handsome look and excellent performance. GM intends to provide AT4 trim on all of its cars within the next two years. Even the heavy-duty lineup, as well as the Acadia and a few other models, will offer the famous AT4 treatment.
AT4 is essentially a substitute for the All-Terrain trim level. It provides comparable advancements, however when comparing two types, AT4 is clearly superior. In terms of the future Sierra 1500, it will receive mid-cycle updates. The Sierra AT4 will be able to receive the most of these updates. The manufacturer will also offer a brand-new Super Cruise system, but AT4 won’t have it, unfortunately.
2022 Sierra AT4 Exterior
The new 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 will have a nice off-road pickup truck look on the outside. This version includes an aggressive styling as well as additional ground clearance. More specifically, the Sierra 1500 AT4 adds two inches of ground clearance. Customers should expect improved off-road capability as a result of this. Sierra 1500 has a dominating stance and it wears various blacked-out exterior elements.
However, not everything about this truck is out of the ordinary. Some parts of the body appear to be quite subtle. The front fascia will include a dark chrome grille and a more aggressive bumper. There are standard 18-inch wheels, red tow hooks, and Micheline all-terrain tires available. Wheels with a diameter of 20 inches are available as an option. Finally, General Motors provides tuned suspension, an Eaton rear locking differential and Rancho shocks.
Interior Updates
The inside has a modern design and a lot of high-tech features. The new 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 comes with a variety of darker accents and luxurious leather seats. The cabin is outfitted with higher-quality materials than the base trim level. GM’s relatively new 15-inch head-up display should be the highlight of the 2022MY and its interior. The same display also includes an inclinometer.
The remainder of the technology within the Sierra 1500 AT4 includes a traction select system and a new off-road driving mode. This pickup vehicle also has hill start assist and hill descent control systems. GM will also offer a pair of new optional driver-assistance features. As we already wrote, GM’s new Super Cruise system won’t be available in the AT4 trim.
Powerful Diesel V8 Under the Hood
The 5.3-liter V8 diesel engine will power the upcoming 2022 GMC Sierra AT4. This reliable diesel engine produces 277 hp and up to 460 lb-ft of torque. For 2021, General Motors claims an extra 37 lb-ft of torque. This suggests that the AT4 model will have around 500 lb-ft of twisting power.
So far, the Ram Rebel is the only diesel-powered off-road pickup truck in the market. As a result, the Sierra 1500 AT4 is its direct rival. Finally, GM provides a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and the pickup’s combined fuel efficiency is rated at 22 mpg combined, respectively.
