New 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid is another exciting model to arrive in the coming months. According to various reports, this all-new pickup truck will feature a hybrid powertrain. Maverick is the subject of numerous rumors, first spy photos are here and this model will rival the Hyundai Santa Cruz variant.
The Maverick pickup will slot below the mid-size Ranger and it will share a lot of components with Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Escape Hybrid SUVs. That includes the platform, powertrain, and much more. The exterior design is not such a great mystery, but we still don’t know that much about the truck’s interior. The sales will begin by the end of 2021.
2022 Maverick Hybrid Specs
The 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid will share the architecture with the Ford Escape and Ford Bronco Sport models. The most likely outcome for Maverick is to borrow a hybrid setup from the Escape Hybrid variant. This output comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. Combined output is rated at 200 horsepower and the power is sent to all four wheels.
A plug-in hybrid Escape is also coming to the markets, but Maverick pickup won’t deploy this system. On the other hand, Bronco Sport will feature a smaller 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 181 horsepower. Optionally, a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit will generate almost 250 hp. Because of that, Maverick Hybrid could arrive with an optional powertrain as well.

The sub-Ranger Maverick will rival the new Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup. Again, the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid will borrow a lot of things from the brand-new Bronco Sport model. That includes various exterior features and styling cues. The spy photos are showing a prominent rear bumper and a shorter bed.
The Maverick pickup will be smaller than Honda Ridgeline, but its dimensions are not available yet. Ford will surely confirm the four-door Super Crew cab, but we don’t know if the manufacturer plans to introduce other cab setups. Anyway, Maverick will arrive with numerous trim levels, but the base variant will be spartan and not so premium.
Interior Details
The interior of the 2022 Ford Maverick is still the biggest mystery. Of course, we expect for Bronco Sport model to have a great impact on the pickup’s interior design. Moreover, Maverick will borrow HVAC controls, touchscreens, and probably the upholstery. Upper trim levels will provide more luxury for sure. However, the base variant will provide not so many surprises with pretty basic features and a straightforward design.
2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid Release Date, Price
The compact pickup truck will ride on a standard front-wheel-drive system. This version will cost below $20,000 and it will be a more affordable variant with not so impressive styling and a list of features. And while Maverick borrows regular engines from Bronco Sport, the hybrid variant is the same as the Escape Hybrid crossover SUV.
The hybrid version of the Maverick model will cost around $25,000 or slightly above that. Reportedly, Ford’s new compact pickup will debut in the coming months. Most likely, Maverick will hit the dealerships in the last quarter of 2021.
