New 2022 Fiat Toro is coming to the markets by the end of the year. The brand-new Hyundai Santa Cruz may be an unusual-looking pickup for the American market, but small pickups are much more common in other parts of the world. In Brazil, for example, Fiat recently updated the Toro as part of mid-cycle changes that included split headlights and a grille inspired by the Ram 1500.
Stellantis is releasing a mid-cycle update and this unibody truck will go on sale later in 2021. Toro pickup is present in South America for five years now, and some of you might know this model as the Ram 1000. Besides visual upgrades, Toro will also gain a couple of important interior updates. As for the performances, this small model will relly on a proven 1.3-liter turbo-four engine. Moreover, even the diesel powertrain will be on offer and it will be optional.
2022 Toro Gets Major Exterior Upgrades
The 2022 Fiat Toro comes with a sporty-looking front fascia that is complemented by a sculpted profile. On the other hand, the split-opening tailgate dominates the rear section. The Fiat Strada’s bigger sibling, known as the Ram 700 in Mexico, has 16- to 18-inch wheels on offer, an optional sport bar, tonneau covers, and roof racks.
The facelifted Toro measures 193.5 inches long and 72.6 inches tall (4,915 and 1,844 millimeters) and features full-LED turn signals and driving lights. This means new Toro model is slightly bigger than its predecessor. Fiat calls it a true Sport Utility Pickup for a reason as this model wears a lot of SUV-like cues and features.
Interior Features
Once you open the door, the most noticeable difference between the pre-facelift model and the facelift model is the new infotainment system. The 2022 Fiat Toro offers a portrait-styled touchscreen that ranges over 10.1 inches in upper trim levels. This is amazing upgrade, for such a small truck.
The mid- and entry-level models have 8.4- and 7.0-inch displays, respectively, and the base model isn’t exactly spartan either, with a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster. Fiat will deliver more features as well, but new safety aids will be optional in lower trim levels.
Two Powertrain Options
The all-new 2022 Fiat Toro is based on the FCA 4×4 platform used for the Jeep Compass and Renegade models. There will be two powertrain options, which comes as no surprise. The 1.3-liter turbo-four engine is standard and it comes with a flex-fuel motor. This unit can run on ethanol-blended gasoline or pure ethanol fuel. This gasoline engine develops 185 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque, and it’s only available with front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The manufacturer also offers a 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine. This output comes with either front- or all-wheel drive configurations. This engine produces 170 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Fiat Toro Price, Release Date
The price of the forthcoming 2022 Fiat Toro will start at $21,000 for the base Endurance trim level. On the other hand, the range-toping Ultra model will cost around $35,000. The sales will begin later in 2021 in Brazil.
