2020 Nissan Frontier Redesign, Diesel Engine Specs and Release Date

If we can rely on the latest reports, it looks like the 2020 Nissan Frontier will finally come redesigned. We can say only one thing about this – it was about time! The current generation has been around for way too long time. It was introduced in 2004. Although there were some redesign plans in the past, we never saw this in practice, so the new model will finally come after 15 years. For this occasion, we are about to see a whole bunch of novelties. Of course, some of the first things that come to mind are new exterior and interior design, new engines, lots of new technologies etc. Speaking of the engines, the latest reports are suggesting a diesel version as well. This makes perfect sense, considering that rivals will go in the same direction. We expect to see a new model in the next year.

2020 Nissan Frontier Release Date

2020 Nissan Frontier Redesign

Considering that the current generation has been around for a full 15 years, there is no doubt that this redesign is about to bring a lot of novelties. One of the first questions that come to mind is the platform. If we can rely on the latest reports, Nissan won’t develop the new one, but rather a new version of the familiar F-Alpha architecture. The latest version of this platform can be found in the current-generation Navara and if we consider all the qualities of the internationally-offered truck, there is really no need for some radical changes. The Navara offers excellent riding experience and it is one of the most driveable trucks around, so we have no doubt that the 2020 Nissan Frontier will be equally good in this aspect. Of course, mechanical updates will be numerous compared to the current generation, while significant weight savings are also expected.

Exterior Design

The current generation has been around for a full 15 years, so it’s no wonder it looks pretty aged. Most rivals are much younger and feature significantly more attractive styling. Therefore, we expect that the new generation will come with the completely new styling. Most likely, the current-generation Navara will serve as the basis, though we count on a lot of new details as well. When it comes to overall dimensions, we don’t expect some significant changes, though the wheelbase could be a little bit longer. Of course, we count on several body styles in the offer. This includes a regular cab version as well. Of course, double cab layout will probably be the most popular, but latest reports are also suggesting a comfort-oriented version, highest trim levels, which would come as 2020 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab models.

2020 Nissan Frontier Interior

When it comes to the 2020 Nissan Frontier Interior, we count on significant novelties. The current model looks pretty spartan from the inside, while the new generation should come with far more refinement. Of course, we count on a much more attractive dashboard design, equipped with latest tech goodies, starting from a large touchscreen and advanced infotainment system, equipped will latest features, including smartphone integration. Of course, we count on a full load of safety features as well.

When it comes to the overall cabin layout, we count on three cabin designs, as we already mentioned. The new generation should feature a little bit longer wheelbase. That could be highly beneficial in terms of the interior space, particularly in terms of the legroom.

2020 Nissan Frontier Engines

This is the aspect where we expect to see a lot of novelties. The current model comes with two reliable but also quite outdated and inefficient gasoline engines. So, we count on novelties for the next year. First of all, we expect to see a new V6 option in the offer, probably a familiar 3.5-liter engine, although some reports also suggest a turbo V6 options for highest trim levels. Base models will come with four cylinders, though it is still unknown whether we are about to see a new engine, or the current one will undergo some revisions.

Another interesting novelty should be 2020 Nissan Frontier Diesel. Some trucks in the segment like Chevy Colorado already have diesel options, while others are preparing their oil-burner versions as well. Therefore, the new Frontier should go in the same way. At this point, we don’t know exact details, but one of the possibilities is a familiar 2.3-liter dCi from Renault. Still, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see Mercedes-Benz’s 3.0-liter V6 either.

Another possible addition to the 2020 Nissan Frontier engine lineup could be a hybrid powertrain. However, we haven’t heard anything from the officials yet.

Release Date and Price

Latest reports are suggesting that the all-new 2020 Nissan Frontier will come in the next year. Details are still unknown, but we presume base models will go around 23.000 dollars.
