The new 2024 GMC Sierra HD is slated to get a substantial update next year. As far as we know, the GM will debut new front and back end designs, as well as a completely redesigned interior and possible engine changes.
It’s also important to note that this truck was supposed to be released later in 2023, but due to issues caused by COVID-19 and a lack of superconductive chips, the company had to postpone its release. However, we anticipate that it will begin this year, that production will continue and the Sierra HD lineup of trucks will go on sale this year.
GMC Sierra HD Specs
The engine lineup will not change. However, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD could gain more power this time around. The truck lineup offers a standard 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine with 401 horsepower. On top of that, this engine has a torque of 464 lb-ft. A 6-speed automatic transmission is available, along with the standard RWD setup and optional AWD system. This engine should produce up to 450 hp in the future, which is great to hear.
Optionally, there is a well-known 6.6-liter Duramax engine. It is a turbodiesel variant with 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the standard gasoline engine, this one comes with the Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. The petrol unit has 18,500 pounds of towing capacity. On the other hand, a diesel powertrain can tow around 35,500 pounds.
Exterior Changes
The upcoming 2024 GMC Sierra HD is unfortunately heavily hidden, as evidenced by these spy photos. We did observe, though, that the upcoming truck has fresh front and rear fascias. The redesigned grille and revised headlights make the front fascia section significantly bigger. The back also appears to have been refreshed, with new taillights and bumper.
Of course, it all depends on the trim level you choose, with the most options available on the Denali model, which is the most expensive one. GM will also provide new exterior colors and more options on the range-topping trim levels.
Interior Upgrades
The upcoming 2024 GMC Sierra HD versions have a particularly comfortable cabin because of the high quality of the materials used. Until now, every Sierra HD has had a standard touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, which could be swapped with a considerably larger one. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included, as are USB-C ports.
The upper trim levels will naturally provide more standard equipment. However, the Denali trim level comes with a premium Bose sound system, larger display, leather seats, and more. Unfortunately, spy photos didn’t provide interior details, but we expect to see a couple of big upgrades.
2024 GMC Sierra HD Price, Release Date
The new 2024 GMC Sierra HD will start at $42,000, according to the most recent reports. This truck will arrive later in 2022, or in the first quarter of 2023. The Sierra 3500HD will cost $1,000 more than the Sierra 2500HD model. Opting for the luxury Denali trim will cost you over $70,000.
