The forthcoming 2022 Ram HD is a lineup of trucks that will go on sale later in 2021. Thanks to the rivalry with Ford Super Duty and Chevy Silverado HD models, Ram is constantly improving its lineup. Models such as Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 are simply impressive. However, the rivals are right there and three manufacturers are dominating the heavy-duty segment.
As for the Ram HD, this truck will gain a couple of improvements. However, we don’t expect to see major upgrades. Instead, Ram HD will arrive with the mid-cycle facelift. That includes minor updates in terms of design and interior. The new model will surely offer more tech and more driver-assistance. However, performances will remain intact.
Ram HD Specs
Under the hood, the new 2022 Ram HD will once again offer two powertrain options. As before, a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 gasoline engine is offered as standard. This engine is capable of producing 410 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Ford recently introduced a new engine, which is the most powerful gasoline option in the segment at the moment. However, Ram won’t deliver any sort of improvement. Yes, some rumors are suggesting more power, but that won’t happen.
If you want more power, an impressive diesel engine is optional. It is a 6.7-liter turbodiesel with 400 horsepower. On top of that, this engine develops over 1000 lb-ft of torque. Exact torque figures are not available and Ram could deliver slightly more torque in the near future. The Ram HD is a rear-wheel-drive truck with an optional all-wheel-drive system. With the best possible configuration, this truck is capable of towing over 35,000 pounds.
Trim Levels
New model will gain minor updates, so we are more interested in the truck’s trim levels. For a start, the new 2022 Ram HD offers three cabin configurations. A regular cab is standard, while a crew cab and a mega cab are optional. Furthermore, you can choose between short and long-bed setups as well. As for the trim levels, Ram won’t introduce new ones or change the order of the trims.
Thanks to that, Ram HD Tradesman is the entry-level model once again. This model offers basic stuff. It is the cheapest version, so if you want something more, just skip the Tradesman variant. The Laramie trim level is a much better choice. Its price is not significantly higher but you will get more tech. Interestingly, but Laramie trim does not offer a regular cab configuration.
The mid-grade Big Horn model is a great choice. You will get larger wheels, a larger touchscreen, and more standard amenities. To compare, the base trim level offers a 5-inch touchscreen and 17-inch wheels. Mid-grade trim levels are available with a 7-inch display and larger 18-inch rims. The range-topping trim levels such as Limited are offering 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and more luxury.
2022 Ram HD Price, Release Date
The price of the 2022 Ram HD won’t increase at all. The updates are minor, so there is no reason to see a more expensive truck. This heavy-duty lineup will cost $33,000. As before, this heavy-duty lineup of trucks will continue to compete against Ford Super Duty and Chevy Silverado HD. The sales will begin by the end of 2021.
