The current generation of Ram’s HD models has been around for a couple of years and it is still considered the best model in the class. Simply, the last redesign has brought some new design solutions we haven’t seen so far in this segment, so even though this isn’t the most capable model in the segment, it offers something that other models don’t. This particularly refers to the ride quality and interior quality, which are on par with modern luxury SUVs.
For the next year, the 2021 Ram 3500 continues in a familiar way. There are no notable changes. So, you may count on the same engines in the offer, as well as on the same trim level organization. The new model is about to arrive in showrooms in the next couple of weeks.
2021 Ram 3500 Design
The 2021 Ram 3500 is coming without any particular change. You may count on the same design that originally arrived a few years ago. This means the same styling, as well as mechanics. Both things are really great about this truck and we particularly like the suspension setup, which is by far the best in class, especially if you opt for an air suspension. It ensures unparalleled smoothness and comfort, and that’s even more notable if you consider the luxurious cabin this model offers
Speaking of the cabin, you may count on the same layout. It includes a pretty stylish dashboard and an interior that utilizes high-quality, very fine materials. Moreover, higher trim levels are almost on par with some luxurious SUVs on the market. Furthermore, the list of standard and available features is pretty impressive, especially when it comes to tech goodies.
2021 Ram 3500 Engines
The engine lineup remains the same, so you may count on two familiar units, in three variants. Of course, the first one that comes to mind is the 1.000-pound-feet turbodiesel, which is good for about 400 horsepower and ensures a max towing capacity of 35.100 pounds. However, this version is reserved for higher trim levels, while lower-grade models come with a detuned variant with 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. Still, this powertrain is also quite capable.
Those who are not that much about towing could also consider the base 6.4-liter V8 gasoline engine, which puts out around 410 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. It may not be as diesel units, but it is smoother and lighter, which also has an impact on handling and overall performances.
Trim Levels
The trim level organization remains the same too. So, you may count on familiar models – Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Longhorn and Limited.
The Tradesman is a typical workhorse, so the list of standard equipment isn’t particularly long. It comes with a small 5-inch touchscreen, steel wheels, air conditioning, keyless ignition and vinyl seats. The Big Horn is a bit of an upgrade, as it adds things like chrome wheels, chrome bumpers, keyless entry, trailer brake controller, cloth upholstery etc.
The Laramie is one of the most popular models, mostly because of a great balance between price and number of features. Some of the highlights are things like an 8-inch touchscreen, chrome grille, leather seats, power-folding chrome tow mirrors etc.
The Longhorn is where luxury begins. There are features like two-tone finish, wood trim, exclusive wheels, available self-leveling suspension etc. Finally, there is the Limited trim, which adds goodies like power-folding running boards, 12-inch touchscreen, exclusive grille design and large 20-inch wheels, blind-spot monitoring and more.
