The long-awaited pickup version of the legendary Wrangler finally arrived last year and most reports suggest that the 2021 Jeep Gladiator shouldn’t feature any particular change. Simply, this is a very fresh model, the youngest in the segment. Moreover, it offers exceptional off-road performances, while the max towing capacity is at an impressive level as well.
All this clearly indicates that the next year won’t be particularly interesting, but some reports suggest completely opposite. For example, we can find a lot of reports that suggest the arrival of 2021 Jeep Gladiator Hercules, which would be a hi-performance version with even more off-road upgrades. Rumors about the diesel powertrain have been circulating for a while, but this version is, for now, only certain in Europe.
On the other side, base design characteristics will definitely remain the same, while the list of standard equipment could be tweaked for a bit. A single cab model definitely won’t come, despite the rumors. When it comes to the 2021 Jeep Gladiator release date, we expect to see the new model sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2021 Jeep Gladiator Design and Changes
When it comes to base design characteristics, this is still a pretty fresh model. So, it doesn’t many any sense to expect bigger changes. The next-year model will carry on with the same layout, and among the 2021 Jeep Gladiator changes, the best we could see are additions to the list of standard equipment. In terms of styling, we are about to see the same layout, which combines the aesthetics of the legendary Wrangler with a typical pickup layout. A crew cab model is the only version in the offer. Some sources suggest we could see a single cab model in the offer. However, we are pretty sure this won’t happen. On the other side, you definitely may count on those fantastic removable doors and roof, which make this truck one of a kind.
Interior
Once again, no bigger changes are about to come. This truck features the same dashboard as Wrangler, which combines modern aesthetical elements. The overall quality is pretty high, higher compared to other mid-size pickup trucks, except for Honda Ridgeline. Despite it looks very attractive, this cabin is highly durable, waterproof some would say. So, you can count on this pickup for every adventure. The cabin is also highly functional and one of the things we particularly like is the amount of legroom. This is one of the rare mid-size pickup trucks that offer such impressive comfort in the second row, which easily accommodates adult passengers. Typically for a pickup layout, visibility is great in all directions.
Features
As we already mentioned, this is the aspect where we could see a couple of changes for the next year. Still, we don’t expect too much and the list of standard equipment will remain pretty similar. Currently, base models come standard with things like a 5-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker audio system, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. Of course, things are much better in higher trims, where you can get a 7- or 8.4-inch touch screen, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, satellite radio, navigation, a removable Bluetooth wireless speaker, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, additional USB ports and more.
When it comes to safety features, a rearview camera is the only safety feature in the offer. That’s a little bit disappointing if you look at some rival models, such as Tacoma, but things are much better at higher trim levels. There you can also get things like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
2021 Jeep Gladiator Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, the North American version will most likely continue in the same way. That means you may count on a well-known Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine. In this case, it delivers around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A good thing to know is that you have a choice between manual and automatic transmissions. Both units actually work pretty well. It’s not an ideal combination and some rivals definitely offer a smoother ride. However, you may count on an exceptional towing rating, that goes up to 7.500 pounds. That number looks even more amazing once you realize that we are talking about a gasoline engine and a crew cab layout.
One the European market, this truck will come with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, the same one that can be found under the hood of Grand Cherokee. Despite the rumors, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Diesel won’t come to North America.
When will 2021 Jeep Gladiator arrive?
We expect that the 2021 Jeep Gladiator release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of this year. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, so base models should go around 33.500 dollars. Key competitors are models like Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger etc.
