The new generation of the popular pickup truck has been introduced last year and it received mixed reviews in most cases. On one side, the new model comes with numerous exterior changes and a new platform that ensures better working capabilities and improved efficiency. Also, there are new engine options. On the other side, most of us were disappointed with the cabin look. Simply, it wasn’t redesigned, but rather just updated and still looks way too similar to the previous-generation model. Therefore, the latest reports are suggesting that we are about to see the 2021 Chevy Silverado interior redesign.
This will happen in the next year, according to the latest report, and it looks we are about to see a lot of upgrades and updates. Besides the new interior, a couple of more novelties could come with this update, considering that this is a typical time for Silverado’s mid-cycle update.
2021 Chevy Silverado Interior Redesign
There’s no doubt that the 2021 Chevy Silverado interior redesign is the most anticipated thing about the popular truck for the next year. Simply, the current cabin doesn’t look good enough, despite that Silverado loyalists are convincing us that the cabin is very functional. The fact is that this isn’t the desired level of quality and that the new Ram 1500 looks far more luxurious than the Silverado.
There are two major problems that GM has to fix with this 2021 Chevy Silverado interior update. First of all, the current dashboard looks way too similar to the previous-generation model. Therefore, we expect a couple of revisions. Most of them should come to the center stack, which currently looks a little bit outdated. Of course, we count on a bigger infotainment screen, as well as on buttons reconfiguration and other aesthetical tweaks.
The other thing that bothers us is the overall interior quality. The new Silverado definitely isn’t at the same level as the new Ram 1500 and don’t forget that the next-generation F-150 is about to come in the near future as well. Therefore, we expect higher-quality materials and all other kinds of upgrades that will make this truck look better from the inside.
More Updates
Of course, the 2021 Chevy Silverado interior redesign shouldn’t be the only aspect of updates. As you probably know, GM trucks are characterized by a relatively short production cycle. So, the third production year actually seems perfect for a mid-cycle refresh. So, the interior update shouldn’t be the only novelty.
We count on updates in other aspects as well. Naturally, we don’t expect some significant styling changes. Still, smaller updates in terms of new color options and wheels are possible. According to GM Authority, the Silverado could finally come with the MultiPro tailgate, a feature that has been available exclusively in Sierra models so far.
No Changes Under the Hood
We definitely don’t expect any changes under the hood. The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 will carry on with familiar engines in the offer. Base models will feature a new 2.7-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque. Well-known V8 units will carry on as well. There are two of them.
The first one is a 5.3-liter unit with around 355 horsepower, while the bigger 6.2-liter engine delivers around 420 horses and 460 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is a new diesel version, equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo inline-six oil-burner. This engine seems quite capable, as it delivers quite respectable 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Depending on the engine choice, you can get either an 8- or 10-speed automatic gearbox.
More Safety Features
Another aspect where we expect to see interesting novelties is the list of safety features. While the current model stands pretty good in terms of the infotainment system and other connectivity features, we would definitely like to see more safety systems in the offer. The base model currently comes with a rearview camera only.
This should be expanded in the future and we presume some of the optional features could become standard soon. Some of the potential candidates are systems like forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert.
2021 Chevy Silverado Release Date and Price
Given the pretty big update, we expect that the 2021 Chevy Silverado release date will happen for a little bit earlier date than usual. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, at least when it comes to base models, which currently go around 28.500 dollars.
Of course, this is the price for the Regular Cab WT version, which is pretty much a bare bone. Better-equipped models will cost you much more, while the range-topping High Country model goes around 55.000 dollars. Also, keep in mind that there are numerous optional upgrade packages, which could additionally bump the price.
