The upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 EV is coming to the markets in the coming months. Recently, we saw the latest spy photos that are showing a couple of interesting things. The all-electric half-ton truck will gain a larger infotainment screen, like the unit in the all-new Mustang Mach-E crossover SUV. The spy shots are also showing interesting exterior upgrades, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
The Blue Oval manufacturer promises impressive power figures and a great driving range. No doubt, it will be the best version of the F-150 pickup truck so far. The sales will reportedly begin in the first quarter of 2022 and here’s everything we know at the moment.
2022 F-150 EV Gets Larger Infotainment Display
A new batch of spy photos is confirming what many reports already wrote about. The 2022 Ford F-150 EV is getting the same infotainment display as the Mustang Mach-E model. This means the dashboard will be slightly different than the one you can find in the regular F-150 pickup truck. A New 15.5-inch display is on offer and it will use the new SYNC4 infotainment system.
What About Exterior Design?
In terms of exterior design, the new 2022 Ford F-150 EV won’t largely depart from the regular F-150 model. The spied prototype showed a couple of new styling upgrades. Still, the biggest differences between the two models are the plug-in port and higher ride in favor of the all-electric variant.
On the other hand, many reports are saying the prototype is far from the final product. If this is correct, then Ford could deliver a surprise or two. At this moment, we know the F-150 EV will sport a traditional look, without futuristic cues and oddly shaped stuff.
Towing Capacity, Driving Range
Blue Oval hasn’t said anything about the 2022 Ford F-150 EV and its powertrain, but it will have a dual-motor configuration with an AWD system. According to Ford, the electric F-150 will have more horsepower and torque, as well as the best acceleration of any F-150 currently on the market. This means it will have more than 450 horsepower and will reach 60 mph in less than 5.0 seconds.
We expect that the battery pack in the F-150 EV would have a range of more than 300 miles, as the longest-range Mustang Mach-E is EPA-rated at 305 miles. Finally, Ford produced a bed-mounted range extender, but we are waiting to hear more details about the new F-150 EV and its specs.
2022 Ford F-150 EV Price, Release Date
As for the price, the new 2022 Ford F-150 EV will probably cost closer to the GMC Hummer EV. This means the price won’t be as affordable as the Tesla Cybertruck model that starts at $40,000. Blue Oval manufacturer is yet to announce more details, including the truck’s name.
The latest reports are strongly suggesting the F-150 Lightning name. However, the E-150 and Everglades are also possible candidates. The sales of the all-electric F-150 will begin at some point next year.
