On the other side, the engine lineup will remain untouched. This means that the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel will continue with a familiar 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel, which is good for pretty impressive 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and these numbers are enough to provide pretty respectable performances. Of course, this model isn’t quick as bigger gasoline units, but it is quicker than its diesel rivals from Ram and Ford. Also, we like the fact that the fuel economy is pretty good, as you may count on 23 miles per gallon in a combined ride.
On the other side, the thing we don’t like is that the towing capacity is significantly lower compared to rivals. This truck can tow no more than 9.300 pounds. On the other side, Ford F-150 with diesel engine is good for about 11.500 pounds, while Ram 1500 EcoDiesel tows impressive 12.500 pounds. Also, the price tag of this version is pretty high. Practically, you can get a version with a 6.2-liter engine for a little bit more money, which is significantly quicker and can tow up to pretty impressive 13.400 pounds.
Release Date and Price
Given the new interior design, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel should arrive a little bit earlier than usual, but still within the second half of the year. When it comes to the price, versions with this engine start around 45.000 dollars and we don’t expect bigger changes in the future.
